The restaurant is situated in the Rus de Buci which is always a busy, bustling area. Several cafes are in this stretch of the road and all have tables spilling out onto the pavement.
The reviews looked good and I walk past this restaurant two or three times a day (almost opposite is a boulangerie called Carton which is very good).
The service was average. Starters of egg mayonnaise were OK, but the yolks had a grey lining (which means they have either been over cooked or they have not been put in cold water after cooking). Now, if the chef cannot boil an egg......
My steak and frites was average, but my wife's lasagne was a hard lump of stuff with gravy poured over it. It looked as though a portion of lasagne had been microwaved to death and then disguised with the gravy. The drinks were on the expensive side for an informal brasserie (Kir Royal !4.00, 50cl beer 11.50, bottle of water 7.50 and 50cl wine 17.50).
Some people have had better experiences, so I might try this place again - but, frankly, with so many other nearby restaurants, it won't be for some time.
Within a 5-10 minute walk you have Pied au Fouet and Pre au Clercs which are both much more reliable and better value for money.
The location, though is great. You can people watch and really feel you are in Paris.

Not so good. The mussels were overdone and pretty gritty and the scallops were tough tasteless and way overpriced. Would not go back. Would not recommend.

After a long day of touring we came upon La Atlas - great food and efficient service. Very busy but our waiter was terrific! We had lamb and mussels - creme brûlée for dessert and enjoyed every bite!

It looks a little like a tourist trap. My wife and I did not expect much when we walked in. We were in the market for plain steak, bearnaise ( not sauce poivre which is offered so often instead) and maybe some oysters. We got just that and at a very fair price. Nice people, pleasant atmosphere. Mostly natives among the guests, whom we could tell would go where the price/quality match came out even.

Stopped at the raw bar for a plate of sea urchin and oysters which were terrific. On a side street with lots of street action. A great stop.
