My girlfriend and I visited Paris this summer as our first holiday abroad together. We decided that, although both being students & hoping to have a relatively cheap trip away, we should book just one meal together to sit as the centrepiece of our visit to Paris.
Bateau Calife offered us the most stunning meal experience. Located on the River Siene directly opposite La Louvre and next to 'Love-lock Bridge', the atmosphere was amazing from the offset. The staff were beyond any expectation I had anticipated & bent over backwards to help us; constantly refilling empty glasses with the water, or wine on our table & spoke with an eloquent level of English.
As though the ambiance of our 2 hour voyage along the River Siene wasn't enough, dim lighting on board the boat and atmospheric music set the scene even more; as we ate and drank whilst passing some of the most famous Paris landmarks, including the Notre Dame, The Eiffel Tower and the Parisian Statue of Liberty amongst many others.
The menu is extensive, but split into two; one cheaper and one more expensive. Both of us enjoyed the €64 meal, which was more than adequate, offering 3 courses all of exquisite taste and appearance. A complementary glass of champagne was graciously handed to us upon boarding the Bateau Calife as well as small hors d'oeuvres which were a lovely surprise. The wine list catered for all levels of wealth and sophistication.
One truly gets the impression that this boat is a not a commercial business, though truly professional. Booking prior to the meal is recommended as it is popular.
I have recommended this dining experience to my friends and will do again and again, what an inspired place to eat.
