Near Bastille but far from all the fuzz there is sometimes there, the perfect hidden place for a quiet lunch at very low prices. Home cooked meatballs in different sauces, great service with extremely sympathetic staff. Moustache accepted !

“Cannot wait to come back!”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

Amazing little place! So glad we tried here. On a quite yet vibrant street it's not far from the Bastille area we were drawn to Cafe Moderne because we saw they served Brooklyn beer when passing during the day.

This place is mainly a restaurant, however we didn't eat here. We came back in the evening before going to dinner and we loved it.

My boyfriend had a pint of Brooklyn which was 7 EUR and I had an absolutely wonderful cocktail. It was 10 EUR and worth every cent. The cocktail menu is extremely creative and well thought out. I went for the Caribbean Shepard being a rum fan. The rum is mixed with lemon and sugar, and then a froth was made from amaretto with a small electric whisk and served in a Martini glass with angastura vapour. The bartender explained to sip the foam and then the drink - sublime. Like a rum sour with a wonderful amaretto foam coming through.

The service was amazing. The bartender was wonderful. He was making some cocktails for another group at the bar, so anticipated that we might have a small wait before he could make our drinks. He took our order whilst making the other groups cocktails, gave us water (decanted in a Makers bottle :) ) and some complementary bar snacks. He held conversation with us and before we knew it we had our drinks. His service made our wait pleasant and barely noticeable. He was clearly passionate about his job and was wonderful with everyone who came to the bar.

The atmosphere is great, the place definitely has inspiration from NYC but still has a French charm and excellent soul and jazz playing in the background.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough, and I can't compare it to anywhere else. The food looked great and very well priced. It's worth heading to Bastille simply for this bar.

“Great start to a city break”
Reviewed August 28, 2013 via mobile

After perusing a few venues, we plonked for this on our opening night in Paris and were not disappointed. Great Flavours (especially the mushroom sauce) and a really nice service. Staff were on top of everything and the place was nice relaxed and on the nose price wise. Plenty happy to revisit that's for sure.

Fresh and healthy food !

I suggest the Shire cocktail !
Home Made as Well by the bartender, amazing cocktail ! Try to guess what is made with you will be surprised !

And their french touch ... The way how they welcome you !
You feel like everyone's is your friend, even if you're a foreigner !

“Quirky atmosphere, good grub!”
Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

If you like meatballs and cocktails this is the place for you. Intimate atmosphere with lively music, friendly young staff. Menu limited, includes meatballs, burgers and tartare....In various varieties. I can recommend the spicy chicken meatballs, although they were a special. They had a taste of Moroccan about them! Had a chicken caesar salad to start, i can happily say best chicken caesar I have ever had! Good value for money! A member of staff accidentally spilled some beer on me, he couldn't apologise enough. My partner sampled a few of the cocktails (I'm pregnant so couldn't!) but he gave rave reviews! Would go back again.
