As a Malaysian, living in Germany, I always search for Asian food when traveling. There is NO good Chinese food in Germany.
The roasted duck and roasted pork hanging behind the glass is just like those back at home. And the roasted duck taste good too. My son had Cantonese fried noodles and he enjoyed it a lot. Wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more.
Opposite Tai Yien, there is a cafe and next to the cafe is a little lane with lots of graffiti. Took some nice photos there.
Belleville is the 2nd largest Chinatown in Paris and it was quite crowded when we were there. I hope we will have the time to return here before heading back to Germany.

It is always a good sign when the restaurant is busy with local people as you know the food must be good. The Tai Yen restaurant was very busy when we visited. The manager was very helpful and interpreted the vast menu into english. I would thoroughly recommend the special fried rice, noodles and the ribs are to die for. The sweet and sour prawns are exceptional. Well worth the travel from the centre of Paris. Only one problem they don't do takeaways to england and beware of the chillis on the table!

Asian food in Paris generally doesn’t match up to other major cities with a big Asian population. So when it comes to dim sum, which is specific to Cantonese cuisine, it’s even harder to find a good place in Paris.

The first good sign was the rows of crispy duck and roast pork hanging in the window. It turns out the Tai Yien is well known for their crispy duck, and deservedly so. More traditionally, this is done in a furnace and I noticed that Tai Yien had such furnaces. The results were delightful: crispy skin, moist tender meat and mouth-watering flavours. Sorry I didn’t get a photo of either the duck or the impressive furnaces in the kitchen – I was too busy eating!

On this particular occasion, we ate our fill for around 14 Euros each. Definitely the best dim sum I have enjoyed so far in Paris. I look forward to taking on new challengers, but for now, I’d happy to have found a home away from home.
