The earthenware service plates tell the story: a small restaurant where Italian is spoken, pasta and pizza rule and the flavor is more important than the volume or the hype.
Located a few steps from the Hyatt Regency, Trattoria Bellagio helped us relax from our few hectic days in Paris. A couple of questions to the server gave us confidence that the food would be good. Example: we ordered the eggplant parmigiana appetizer and discovered that the pesto sauce, not just the eggplant, had a starring roll. The penne special had a spectrum of flavors and the spinach ravioli was worth lingering over.
Service was all right, though they missed a sale they would have made if they’d asked if I wanted another Peroni. Not a monumental dining experience, but a casual end to a busy weekend.
