The 404 is renowned for its sweet couscous brunch (called Le Typique) - a mélange of sweet couscous, raisins, almonds and sour milk, with all of classic accompaniments of brunch (fresh orange juice, coffee) as well as some of the more exotic additions (Moroccan salad, cinnamon orange salad, and Berber pancakes with honey). At the end, you can also ask for mint tea, poured in the traditional style high above beautiful coloured glasses.
The 404 also offers two other kinds of brunches, Le 404 and L'Oriental. All three brunches cost €21 and come with the same accompaniments (fresh orange juice, cinnamon orange salad, Berber pancakes, mint tea or coffee at the end). Le 404 features the Moroccan hamburger (kefta and Moroccan fries served with homemade tomato sauce) and a fresh cucumber salad. The last time I visited, I ordered L'Oriental, which came with a potato & vegetable pancake with humus, cheese briouat, marinated chicken, and Moroccan pasta (pictured above). And of course, there's a selection of yummy Moroccan pastries that are nice to nibble on with your mint tea!
After having tried all three brunches, I still have to say that the sweet couscous 404 brunch is the winner! It's just so incredibly delicious and different. If you're looking for a different kind of brunch in Paris, the 404 is definitely at the top of my list. Don't forget to book; they are always packed for brunch!
