Not having been to France before and certainly not appreciating the size difference between Australia and France we were not sure what we were in for.The shuttle van dropped us at the front of the block. The owner had sent us messages but we had purchased a Boyance Tourist chip for our phones. Brilliant as gave us mobile coverage for 60 days with loads on inclusives. Better than using global roaming as would have cost a fortune. Unfortunately the traffic was terrible and it took several hours to get from the airport to the apartment. Good thing is we could work out our position in Paris. Well our host had organised for a store owner in the Rue Cadet to watch for us, meet and advise what was going on and let us in. The Apartment was on two levels and our area was on the lower area. The first thing we noticed was the massive beams holding up the roof. There was a load of room to store our bags and tea/coffee making facilities. We had a window onto the rear courtyard area but we were so close to one of the most perfect streets you could imagine. Next to the front door was Madam Ping Chinese food, Next Salim the Florist, across the road were Bakery, Butcher and more. Now I am using english expressions but the Rue Cadet was only about 100 metres long and had two cafe/drink house, a Tabec 3 Bakers, Fruit and Veg shops x 2, and butchers who provide meat and cooked portions.
It allowed us to get what ever food we needed or to eat out if it took our fancy. Pharmacy at the top of the street and Metro station across the road. The bed area was separate to the table and eating area, and there was a toilet and bathroom as well. ( and again in separate rooms) .
Our host also had an amazing clothes washer and dryer we were able to use. The street allowed us to walk to Montmartre, Opera and more as the areas are side by side.
The room as per the photo has storage area behind the staircase and also shelves along the wall next to the bed. It gave us space to lay out our cases and sort out washing, and plan for the next stop. The street was vibrant but the apartment quiet so sleeping etc so easy. Bed was large and comfortable with plenty of spare rugs.
One thing I found across France was the variety in pillows. Always best to take one you enjoy with you as it helps sleeping so much. Many thanks to Jean P as we were able to come and go as we wanted without interfering with our host.
We also had a supply of towels etc for the time we were there.
We based our stay on the reviews others posted and the photos of the apartment. It was not what we expected. We did not spend much time there as planned. We were just looking for a quiet, clean and comfortable place to sleep and shower for a reasonable price. We needed to keep the window open as it was hot so it was not very quiet. Yet after walking all day we slept through most of it. The comfort of the bed was sufficient. There is a small refrigerator and coffee maker and tea pot with supplies, but no where to wash the pot or cups so we never used them. We dressed out of our suitcase as the only space to hang clothes was next to the small fridge. We suggest that the people hired to clean pay special attention to the toilet and bathroom. Especially the shower. We actually looked for a hotel because it appears they did not clean either well for some time now. Just not what we expected.
A very good apartment located in an interesting neighbourhood within easy walking distance of Montmartre, the Louvre. Jean Phillippe and Sham were great hosts.
we both had a lovely time and were made to feel very welcome. perfect location and great value for money! bakery directly opposite the front door sold fresh bread and pastries every morning and we were within walking distance of all the main attractions.
Comfortable, convenient. Metro 2 minutes away and easy to get everywhere in Paris from the flat. Some stairs.
Perfect location to get to many different sights. The accommodations were perfect for my wife and I. Only a microwave and refrigerator, so one can't really do any cooking, but there are many places to eat in the vicinity. The owner, Philippe, is very friendly and helpful! Overall, it was a great stay!
