“tiny place with plenty of charm”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Good value and kind of feels like you're eating in the back of someone's house but thats what the charm is all about. Food is good without being spectacular but the staff are so friendly and the prices are so reasonable that you forgive them any failings. Surrounded by plenty of other restaurants so you have plenty options nearby if its not for you. Recommend a drink the Bombardier pub around the corner afterwards!

“A bit of old Paris charm”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We happened upon this tiny little gem of a restaurant quite by accident. Just off the Pantheon square in the Latin Quarter, l'Ecurie is a treat not to be missed while in Paris!
The inside is cramped, old and chock full of character! You can see the chef expertly cooking cuts of top grade meat on open fire while patrons happily chomp down on their dinners and try and make themselves heard over the general laughter and clatter of a busy little resto! Very charming! We actually sat outside at one of the miniature little tables against the stone wall. It was a very pleasant summer evening and the setting was perfect to get into the mood ...
We ordered steaks. Now, while I am not a big steak eater - not so much because I don't like them but because it is so "rare" to get a really well made one - I have to say that the steaks at l"Ecurie were outstanding! Melt in your mouth and cooked to perfection! Make sure you order rare to medium - any more would be an insult! :) Topped off with a jug of vin rouge ... ahhh, what a perfect way to end a day of sight seeing in one of the most magical cities in the World! Bon appetit mes amis!

“unique”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

Read any of the reviews below and they are all true. If you want characterless hygiene this is not for you. If however you want a crammed steak house, unchanged since the revolution it would appear with an owner that has the exact personality of the establishment. Don't order meat well done or expect elbow room or matching cutlery. Eat great meat char grilled, rustic pate and drink seriously quaffable vino at prices unheard of in Paris in the company of an owner who knows what he's doing and isn't going to change that because it doesn't fit everyone's sensibilities.

“If You Want Atmosphere and Value Give L'Ecurie a Try”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

If you are looking for an truly atmospheric Parisian restaurant and you are on a budget you must try L'ecurie. It is behind the Bombadier Bub just off the Pantheon Square. The place may not look much from the outside, but inside is one of the best value meals in Paris, in a place full of old Parisian charm. You may be seated within hand holding distance of the people on the next table but the staff are friendly and the free sangria a nice touch. As for the food, We went for the17 Euro menu. I had a generous blue cheese salad which was nicely dressed and came with lots of good bread and a large pot of really excellent garlic mayonnaise. Various cuts of steak seemed to be the favourite main course, so I went for a bavette with pepper sauce . It was a generous steak, cooked as I ordered it. The steak of one of the diners on another table was a bit smaller than the rest so the chef said that if she was still hungry she could have another steak. As it happened she wasn't hungry but he brought the extra steak anyway! Next was a fantastic home made chocloate mousse. As for the wine, you would struggle to spend over 20 Euros on any bottle. I went for a large pichet of Cote do Rhone for 12 Euros and it was very drinkable. On asking for the bill you are given a free Calvados. It really is amazing value and the old fashioned interior with its collection of vintage paraphanalia and old zinc bar adds to the experience. As it is so small and intimate I would recommend that you book, especially at weekends. When we went on a Saturday people were waiting to be seated . Give L'Ecurie a try, at these prices you have very little to lose.

“Maybe one of our best meals during 3 weeks in Europe”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

We were staying at the Agora in the Latin Quarter just off of St. Germaine. We wondered up a couple of blocks into this area because of the number of restaurants, I was looking for restaurants with good reviews, which L'Ecurie had. We were warmly received by our server, I allowed him to pick a bottle of wine for us only explaining that we prefer a dryer red wine. He brought us a great Rhone that was only 11 Euro, we enjoyed marinated Scallops that may have been the best thing we ate there. We also had the Tartare and a potato salad made with what seemed to be a Pork Rillete. Our dessert was a cheesecake, I am happy to say it was not made with Philly Cream cheese, it was light and fluffy and had great flavor. The evening was great service and absolutely perfectly prepared food. We would not go back to Paris without visiting this wonderful restaurant.
