“Value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2014

Situated in the heart of Montparnasse, in the theatre district offers real value for money. We went there twice for lunch. Pleasant french bistrot atmosphere, fast and efficient service. The portions are huge. The first time (we did not know) we ordered starters and main dishes. Impossible to eat. The salads are excellent, you can have a full lunch. Very good house wine, good selection of beers. And very good prices. I recommend this bistrot. It is not fancy, but it is really french.

“Too much starch for my taste”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2014

We only have ourselves to blame because as we approached this pleasant bistro in the Gaite theatre district we could see the waiters dishing out huge portions of potatoes right from the pan, but the place was busy, it intrigued us, and we were hungry so we went for it.

The specialty here is Truffade (potato with galic and duck fat) and Aligot (potato with garlic and cheese), and between the four of us we tried both. Although the first couple of bites are interesting enough we quickly grew tired of the rich gooey flavor, and wished that we had ordered something else. I had the Aligot with sausage and although the sausage was tasty enough, it was also overcooked and almost hard. That and a huge mound of potatoes for 20 Euro does not strike me as a great deal. My wife had the onion soup which was bland and not well prepared. The house red is not great so if you order wine go for something a little better.

The waiter was friendly and the service is fast. It was pleasant to sit outdoors and look at the patrons across the street. With one carafe of wine, one coffee, one soup and three mains the bill came to about 100 Euro and thus I felt it was quite expensive for what we received. I guess if you are really into gooey potatoes then this is your place. It was o.k. but we would not go back or recommend it as there are so many other good places around.

“Oui !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2014

The first thing we noticed as we passed this corner restaurant opposite the Theatre Rive Gauche in the heart of Monparnasse, was the size of some of the portions , particular the salads.
We ultimately settled for what became our favourite a dressed tomato and green salad with ham and warm goats cheese (on toasted croutons). At 12 Euro's and the fact it was big enough to share it proved a great plate of food. Other dishes were equally impressive. The Tart tatin with a creme brulee top could have fed three and was great value at 7 Euros. House wines from 9 Euro's a bottle complimented things nicely.
A fabulous colorful bustling location that is quintessentially Left Bank.

“Recomended!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

I do not like meat, so i really loved the "aligot" plate with salade, its potato and melting cheese and garlic. It was the best thing I ate, but it's so heavy I couldnt finish my plate.
My boyfriend ordered a steak but it was diffiicult to eat.
We were there on a saturday night so we had to wait in line to get our place, so its hard to find a place on nights like this.

I would love to go again!!
