Stopped by Le Plomb du Cantal at the suggestion of a local friend. They served us more food than we could eat and all of it was delicious. Of course the truffade (sautéed potatoes with garlic and cheese) was the main point for our visit. They were some of the best potatoes I've ever had. I also recommend the stuffed cabbage. Easy menu giving you a taste of regional (Auvergne) French cuisine. Average prices, but above average portions. Friendly, fast service.

We first went to this restaurant because it was just down the street from our hotel, and we were delighted. The six of us ordered different items from the menu, from soup (a l'oignon, of course) to salad to interesting entrees. All were pleased with their meals. My husband has a seafood salad and I had sausage-stuffed cabbage. The cabbage came with a side of truffade, a delicious dish of mashed potatoes with cheese. This cheese, I am told, is a special fresh French cheese. Whatever its provenance, the dish was delicious. It is served at table from the pot, with unbelievably huge portions. The waiters were very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed it so much that we went back later in the week. Fortunately we went early each evening, because by the time we left, people were spilling out the door waiting to get in. This does not appear to be a touristy location. Most of the patrons were speaking French.

The food and wine in this restaurant are excellent. It's no surprise that the place is chokkers by 7pm each evening. We ate steaks and had a bottle of great wine. Vey good value for money - no additional charge for water, bread or butter. The service is efficient and friendly. Well worth a visit.

While staying in Montparnasse area, at here three times and was never disappointed. The house wine was reasonable and quite good with the canard confit for dinner and a wonderful salad at lunch. Croque Madame for a late jet-lagged breakfast with champagne...it is Paris after all.
