We enjoyed the Basque food - portions were big. Atmosphere was red checkers table cloths and had a 50's diner feel. The wait staff was great and spoke English. We had a late dinner. It is on the other side of the river from Notre Dame but not too far. It was very late when we left and the area felt safe and not too far too walk to the metro.

At our visit in paris we eat in this little local restaurant. The restaurant was crowd but the atmosphere was really good! The food was delicious. The omelette basque was really nice and the portions were big enough ;)

Found this place that was close to our flat in Paris by chance. Always seemed to be lines of people waiting for tables....now we know why... Simple Basques dishes, well prepared using fresh local ingredients. My partner and I had the basque chicken and the duck. Both were excellent with the chicken having quite a spicy bite to it while the duck, according to my partner, was superb. Top this off with prices that are very reasonable for Paris and you have a winner.....too bad it took us a month to discover it. Well worth a visit if you are in the Latin Quarter!!

This Southern-French cuisine restaurant is one of the most popular in the area, and for a good reason. Food is very cheap for Paris standards, but the quality is pretty good. The menu is not large, with typical dishes such as canard (duck), or basque chicken. Everything comes with home-made fried potatoes. There is a selection of salads, which come in a very large metal bowl. Deserts are very decent. The wine selection is large.

The place is always very crowded, the young, student clientele create a jovial, lively atmosphere. Expect to be given the bill after finishing, and being kicked out when lingering on at the table for too long. Since reservations are not accepted, people come and wait at the bar or outside with a bottle of wine until they are seated.

As we were looking for a feed around Notre Dame through its funky alleyways, there were heaps of restaurants but nothing really appealed. Trip Advisor ratings nearby was a 3-star maximum. So we asked a local of where to eat and he suggested this place - good French food for the French.
What we had: snails in garlic butter (average - they didn't come in their shells as we thought they would); goats cheese & bacon bits salad (fantastic!); duck confit with mushrooms & potatoes (heavenly - fall-off-the-bone tender!) & basque chicken which was nothing short of amazing! Very tasty indeed! Highly recommended! very asty!) &
