I am so glad that we went here for dinner. It's crowded, but with reason! The food is delicious-try the complete salad or the basque chicken. The atmosphere is incredible, and I won't soon forget this meal. My favorite in Paris.

This is a small restaurant, with long lines, you have to share the table with other customers, but the food is excellent, big portions, and reasonably priced. At the beggining we are a bit shy to share the table, but after a few moments, you see nobody cares and everybody in the restaurant is happy. I tried the cassoulet, my friends ordered l'escalope de Veu and Omelet basque, and everything was wonderful. The service is a bit confusing but maybe it's the basque atmosphere...

Went to this place while in Paris following a recommendation of a friend and It really is as good as they say! When we were already thinking that eating good food in Paris was impossible unless you are rich once you go here you can see that it is indeed possible. The place is small and familiar and even if we just spoke few words in French we had no problem at all. We had a complete salad and an entrecote for two people and couldn't finish them! the dishes are huge and really tasty. We went at lunchtime and I think was a good idea because we could have a table quite fast, it must be really crowded at dinner time! In the end we left full and happy and the bill was not even 30 euros for two people including two beers. I can only recommend this place and offer you a very important tip: go there when you are really hungry! (and also, take some cash with you because they don't accept cards!)

This was extremely 'foreign' in feel to this American abroad... It is a tiny space, full of red checked clothed-tables, pushed together so you wind up dining communally with strangers. Not used to that - not opposed to it either but def. outside my comfort zone at first. The wine and communal bread basket changed that - it is a dimly lit, semi-grungy place, but not dirty and it was comfortable and unpretentious. Meal portions were enormous and the food was fresh and flavorful. I had a chicken in tomato sauce with roast peppers and pasta which was hearty and filling and tasted good. (Not in love with the leg quarter, but oh well.) All in all, we left full and satisfied, the proprietor was charming and effusive and it was a pleasant experience on a budget. Would go again, but would brush up on french restaurant language first.

Arguably the best place to eat in Paris, seriously. A lively atmosphere, in a quiet backstreet Basque eatery. Vast salads are served with fried potatoes and delicious chicken dishes pass by. Impossible to book a table so arrive and wait outside with a drink before the eccentric staff welcome you in. Great value too.
