Oh to be able to recreate this place back home! Absolutely no frills but bags of cool laced with barrels of wine. It's always busy no matter what time you pass by..in fact, don't pass by, go in! We didn't partake of the food, but it looked simple and tasty-probably from L'Aigre market right on the doorstop.

We ended up coming here three times during a week in Paris! This is a wine bar extraordinaire, with a great selection of wine by the glass, bottled wine, and wine-to-go in bottles / containers. A small place with exceptional atmosphere. The times we were there the patrons were a mix of young French families, older tourists, and apparent locals. They serve a limited menu which we did not try; we stuck to the wine. John Coltrane background music and friendly staff. Beer on tap. We did take away bottles of their own Rose (less than 4 Euros per liter) and their Cote du Rhone (around 5 Euros per liter); both were very, very nice wines that were bottled for us from their barrels - - if we were locals, we would be regularly back for both the wines and the atmosphere. Note that the bathroom is French old style (just in case you are sensitive to such things).

We went to le baron rouge as part of a walking food tour in the Bastille district. Our tour was on a Sunday morning so it was nice and quiet, as well as being in the middle of winter. Le baron rouge was delightful. We got in early so got a nice seat and the food was delicious! Red wine at 10am on a Sunday, with cheese, pate, bread... so lovely. By the time we left at around 11am it was starting to fill up with locals and hard to get a seat. Well worth the trip to find it. I'd go again!

Relaxing wine bar with good selection and some small local dishes of cheese, ham etc. excellent value for money! Happy interesting faces of young locals. Went there as a tourist with family and two small kids of 9 & 6 and was happily reminiscent of my younger days here. Would totally recommend it! Fun and authentic!!

Delicious local wines in a very cozy and warm place. Really a nice, informal and not turistic 'osteria'.
