Simple french service (not rude, just don't expect a conversation).
Prices are about 30% more than they need to be - but they are facing onto the square - hence you'll pay a premium for that.
NB: they don't do coffee early morning (ie 8am and they still didn't do coffee).
We were staying close by - came here once, but with so many places to choose from, we tried many places as well.
NB: nowhere really stood out in the Latin Quarter for us.
Also, you'll get the afternoon sun in your eyes in most seats here.

Ate here one evening while staying at a nearby hotel, and this cafe is THE place to eat and be seen on the Place de la Contrescarpe. The food is pricey, the waiters can be a little aloof and hard to get a hold of, but the quality of the food is great. The restaurant also gives you the unique opportunity of witnessing the nightly carnival of activity that takes place on this vibrant square!

...for a relatively small meal. I had their version of a Cobb Salad which, although nicely presented, was quite small for the price. It's an appealing little place on a street with many dining options that are more reasonably priced.

we just stopped in for a cold drink after visiting hemingways house around the corner...the waiter was really rude when i ordered in French to begin with and then the second shock arrived when a small bottle of evian and a draught beer came to 18€! avoid this place -there are so many other little bistros around the square and down the side streets.

On a warm evening you really feel as if the world is centred on Place de La Contrescarpe. Cafe Delmas on one side and Contrescarpe on the other are packed three deep. The square is packed, the roads are packed and often street artists are entertaining everyone. Cafe Delmas serves great snacks and drinks but really it is the place to watch people and catch up with news with its free WiFi.
