We chose this restaurant from looking at the menu written on a panel facing the street. It sounded like a dinner gastronomique. The inside was dark and gloomy but we were offered a balcony upstairs. This had more light but was tiny. Only three tables. The service was good and the presentation of our meals on the plate was good. The plates were very hot. This was all positive. However when we began eating it became apparent immediately that the chef had no taste buds. I was served beef gravy with my escargots. This gravy had an acidic taste and no garlic. It ruined the escargots. I informed the waiter of my disappointment. However what could he do? My roast lamb was dry and overcooked. It seemed as if it had been prepared for the previous evening's dinner, was not served, and was heated up again for me. I had the same sauce for my lamb as my daughter had for her beef. Once again the sauce did not taste very good. None of us liked our dinners. We cancelled plans for dessert and left for Les Galopins, a little restaurant a short distance away with a fantastic chef. The excellent desserts we had there helped erase the lingering taste and memory of a disasterous meal at Les San Culottes. This was the second worst meal of our five weeks in Europe.
