“Wonderful end to a day trip to Paris”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We took a day off to travel to Paris and back for the big Edward Hopper exhibition at the Grand Palais. We had only ever had coffee at Terminus Nord - just an excuse to get in and admire the fabulous decor really - but this time decided to book ahead for dinner.

Having gone for the 32-euro 3-course menu and were more than satisfied. All three courses were well-prepared, well-presented and very tasty. Terminus Nord seems to be a mecca for seafood fans and many of our fellow diners were making short work of platters of oysters and large tureens of fish soup.

The only reason not to award the place five stars was that the service, although pleasant and courteous, was a little slow, perhaps understandably as by 8 p.m. the restaurant was packed. It was fortunate that we turned up earlier than planned otherwise we might have had problems catching the Eurostar. Other than that, it was a wonderfully atmospheric end to our trip. Highly recommended, but give yourself enough time if you've a train to catch.

“Nice place but a bit expensive”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

We had dinner there on 17th Jan, had to queue for 10mins+ as it was very crowded. The staff were very nice and the food was good, (my duck was much better than my husbands steak ) It had buckets of atmosphere but expect to spend £100+ for 2 and way more if you have some of the seafood specialities.

“Where to go when waiting for your Eurostar train home”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

This place is just outside gare du nord station. It's a really nice bistro style restaurant with spectacular seafood platters and the best French onion soup (I go there just for that!)

I've eaten here 4 or 5 times while waiting for my train back to London. There's a real sense of atmosphere and a hint of the Art Deco. The seafood I found delicious and the platters are eye catching and mouth watering.

Not quiet, it's quiet noisy, not fast food, not cheap, but really worth it for the food and experience.

Ate dinner here two nights. I found the food very fresh and excellent quality. Had the 3 course deal my first night which was excellent for under £40. Some French classics on this menu and a great way to sample some French classics without breaking the bank. I had seafood the second night and the freshness and quality was evident.
The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent english. They had a brilliant knowledge of the wine list and were able to recommend some fantastic french wines to me. Wine list was also very reasonably priced.
Loved the fit out and atmosphere of the place.
Will definitely be paying another visit when I am in Paris again.

“Convenient, classical and worth the money”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

The Terminus Nord may seem an odd choice situated as it is just opposite the Gare du Nord, and amidst much less appealing restaurants and the many beggars in the neighbourhood. But it is different than the others, and an absolutely excellent choice if you wish to have a nice Parisian meal before leaving town on the train. You can eat quietly and at ease and be at your train only a few minutes later instead of having to cross town.

The service is excellent; old-style French waiters - although I can not judge how they deal with non-French speaking customers. Obviously you need to be careful if seated outside in good weather - there are many shrewd pickpockets around to watch your luggage while you watch your plate. If you leave town early evening it can be difficult finding a real restaurant, where as here they serve non-stop - another great benefit!

But if you eat inside you will have the benefit of nicely dressed tables, and the old-style brasserie interior. The menu offers a wide range of seafood, as well as many traditional French dishes.

We went for the menu offer - 26.50 EUR for starter and main course, which is an extremely good deal in Paris. The starter was foie gras with excellent toasted Poilâne-bread (or similar). The main course was chicken filet and risotto - maybe slightly more disappointing, as you can expect for a menu the risotto is precooked and heated. Then again choosing risotto in a restaurant is always risky - either you wait a long time or you go for the premade. But for the overall price of the meal and the rapidity of the service it was absolutely worth it.

For two people with a bottle of water, a bottle of wine and two coffee we paid 94 EUR, which is not bad at all.

I would definitely consider going back to taste their à la carte offers.
