Description: Each one of our tea houses offer a unique environment that combines prestige, raffinement and tradition. They present a tea-tasting salon that allows you to apreciate the best flushes, harvests and tea blends from 12:00 to 19:30. The flushes from the most prestigious tea gardens are steeped behind an old oak bar, a true tea preparation counter. The Mariage Freres' golden rules, are applied and harshly used, for the enchantment of the lovers of the most refined and precious tea. The control of water temperature and steeping time length are compulsory for a successful tea preparation. In order to preserve the tea flavors and scents, a purified water is used. The leaves are taken off the teapot before tea is served. The epicures can also discovert our original preparations baked with tea: the French Art of Tea is for the most part an "art de la table", displayed in the "Cuisine au The" (Cooking with Tea) prepared everyday by our chefs in main courses and deserts. Next to the tea counters, the tea salons, decorated with ancient furniture, set a peaceful path where tea lovers and gourmets can meet up with salty flavours and sweet temptations.

Fabulous Tea Library

I call this tea shoppe a fabulous tea library as parts of it has floor to ceiling wood shelves of just tea. It has at least 100 loose teas from which to choose. It is just fantastic! It can get crowded and a bit warm inside but it is worth. Here is a tip if you want a less crowded experience...on the other side of the street from the main location is another smaller less crowded location that is run by Mariage Frere. The staff are dressed the same in their khaki suits and are just as friendly. This is always a stop I must make when in Paris.

Passage to India in the 21 st century

If you want to be reminded of your trip to Srinagar,this is the place for you though the waiters don't wear gloves and are not barefooted; The setting tries to convey a colonial atmosphere complete with ceiling fans which are sometimes a nuisance!

High times for high tea

The selection of teas is exceptional but it is daunting to distinguish between them.

The menu is light but a delight.

I enjoy every visit.

The most beautiful teashop

I love tea, and to find Mariage Freres around the corner from my hotel was such a treat. We had lunch there one day with their very special champagne cocktail. And we bought both tea bags and loose tea to take home. An extremely knowledgeable and courteous staff - I can't wait for a return trip to stock up on more tea! And perhaps to sample a full afternoon tea - delicious cakes!
