Description: Each one of our tea houses offer a unique environment that combines prestige, raffinement and tradition. They present a tea-tasting salon that allows you to apreciate the best flushes, harvests and tea blends from 12:00 to 19:30. The flushes from the most prestigious tea gardens are steeped behind an old oak bar, a true tea preparation counter. The Mariage Freres' golden rules, are applied and harshly used, for the enchantment of the lovers of the most refined and precious tea. The control of water temperature and steeping time length are compulsory for a successful tea preparation. In order to preserve the tea flavors and scents, a purified water is used. The leaves are taken off the teapot before tea is served. The epicures can also discovert our original preparations baked with tea: the French Art of Tea is for the most part an "art de la table", displayed in the "Cuisine au The" (Cooking with Tea) prepared everyday by our chefs in main courses and deserts. Next to the tea counters, the tea salons, decorated with ancient furniture, set a peaceful path where tea lovers and gourmets can meet up with salty flavours and sweet temptations.

“Love Tea, love Mariage Freres”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

I spent a couple of hours here talking to the waiters and staff about different teas and their tastes. Bought a number of teas to take home as well as gifts for the family. Sat down for tea and cake and the tea was excellent. It is more expensive but you pay for the experience which you don't get very often. Then had a look at the small museum upstairs.

“For tea lovers”

This place is an institution. If you're looking for gifts for French hosts or just because you're a tea lover, this is a shop you have to go to. Beautiful shop, extraordinary tea flavours.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

I love their teas and there are all sorts of lovely tea pots and paraphernalia for sale too. For years this was a must visit shop and we carried home enough tea to last until our next trip but now there is a small outlet in Selfridges I still pop in when in Paris. The staff are charming and the atmosphere makes a visit well worthwhile, you can always buy a little tea to take back to your hotel for the morning!

“Very nice and posh, but you will pay for the experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

It's a really nice experience that can easily overwhelm anyone who's not a tea aficionado. The teas all smell so wonderful and the presentation is out of a book. The wife and I sat down for a pot and had excellent sample of cakes and macaroons. It was really a great experience that won't be forgotten not only for the memories it makes, but for the bill :/

“An excellent traditional tea house”

The choice of tea flavours is fantastic. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The tea room at the back of each store is always an experience of quiet and relaxation.
