The owner, Bertrand Bluy, really went out of his way to accommodate our travel time frame. We ended up eating lunch at this charming restaurant and had we more time would have gone back for dinner.

The restaurant is small and charming. My husband and I immediately felt relaxed. We both chose the four-course meal and were more than satisfied with each delicious morsel.

It was certainly one of the best meals we ate in Paris.

I went to Les Papilles for dinner and I must say it was a great experience. The restaurant is vibrantly decorated and tight knit. The first thing I would say is to definitely make reservations before you visit, or have your hotel concierge make them for you upon arriving.

The menu was a 4 course prix fixe that changes daily. You don't have an option unless you are a vegetarian or have certain food allergies and they will accommodate that. The staff was friendly and spoke English well. The owner and head chef Bertrand Bluy was on site and visited each table to welcome them and explain the meal thoroughly. That was a very nice touch. They have a wine cellar in addition to a wine rack on the wall that you can pick your bottle directly off of (or Bertrand will kindly recommend a good wine to pair with the meal should you not have a solid handle on wine). That is an additional charge to the prix fixe menu.

The meal was outstanding. We had a carrot soup, which was the best dish I had during my visit to Paris, as our appetizer, followed by an osso buco main course, a prune and bleu cheese course after that followed by a panna cotta dessert. It was a memorable meal for sure. I would highly recommend this if you want the feel of classic french cuisine with a slight twist of new wave preparation.

It was a 4 course fixed menu. Everyone ate the same thing. Your only option is what wine you want with dinner. The food was good but if you are lactose intolerant, like my husband, this place is probably not for you. They were wonderful in tiring to accomadate his allergy but he missed out on a great meal because of it. Instead of a wonderful sweet potato soup, he had a green salad, and for dessert, instead of pistachio pane cotta, he got a orange and grapefruit gelatin.

This is a quirky bistro with good, hearty food. A word of warning....the place is tiny with 40 covers so if privacy or space is what you are after, this is not the place for you. We went for Saturday lunch. this is a set 4 course menu with no choice. If you are a picky eater or have allergies again you should consider whether this is the best place for you.The food is brought to the table and served by yourselves which gives it an informal, homely touch. We had soup, pork on beans, cheese and banana panacotta. The staff are friendly and attentive. The dishes were all tasty and interesting but not sophisticated. It was perfect for what we were looking for but I might have been disappointed if it were a special occasion.

Bertrand Bluy does something different and amazing at Les Papilles. By keeping the concept simple, he manages to achieve a perfect dining experience. The layers of flavor and attention to the fine details of the ingredients makes each course an interesting, beautiful and delicious surprise. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is delightful. Les Papilles has the look of an old deli - with a wall of wonderful wines from which to choose to accompany your meal. We asked Bertand to select the wine for us and enjoyed a Langduc red that was perfect with our dinner. Guaranteed to be different from all of your other Paris dining experiences, and one not to be missed.
