We had a great evening here after stumbling upon the unprepossessing entrance in a side street. It is small, typically French with a very buzzy atmosphere provided by the (entirely French during our visit) clientele and the lively waitress who kept everyone smiling and laughing till the early hours. We had plenty of fun trying to read the chalk board menu, the staff speak very little English and our French is patchy but fellow diners joined in and added to the enjoyment with their recommendations. Food is very traditional and very good, we had lamb and duck both of which were excellent, as was the Cotes du Rhone. Even though I turned down dessert, being completely full from previous courses, Madame brought me a free taster serving of their flan, which was delicious. When we were undecided about whether to order another bottle of wine (after three hours of eating!) we were given a bottle and told we would only be charged for what we drank - amazing service. I really can only think that any bad reviews on this site are from envious competitors or people who don't really like French bistros because I couldn't fault it.

Our hostess at our B & B around the corner suggested this one and we loved it. Cozy place, english menu, waitress was very attentive and helpful, food was delicious! The best part of the evening was the dessert, listed on the blackboard, a creamy pudding/flan that was out of this world.

Les Bacchantes (it translates as "the whiskers") is a lively little bistrot close to the Opéra and the vast stores of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. The food is as fresh as it is wholesome (and you check it out with a look into the kitchen at the back of the eating area), the service (by the patron and a waitress) is brisk, and the wine is a particular treat as the Les Bacchantes has been rated the best bistrot in France for wine. We went for the Duché d'Uzes Garrigue d'Aureillac 2011 blanc from the south-west - a real delight at €26 - but, sadly, we discover is not marketed in the UK. One very modest caution: Les Bacchantes might be a tad sticky on a hot day.

One of the best wine bars in Paris. Good traditional food and excellent wines. The prices are very reasonable, even champagne wasn't too expensive. I can highly recommend this place if you are looking for a traditional french bistro food. Decoration is little bit old fashioned, but it's well suited to the style of place.
