“Best food i have had for years- expensive and as for the service - i have seen better”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2013

first the dinning room - amazing!!
the food - almost everything was nothing less than fantastic
the price - very high but not more the other 3 star in paris

as for the service - i expect better service in this kind of restaurant- examples:
they took my plate while other guests ares till eating .
they explain about a dish - while not everyone got their dish yet.
water - we served ourselves most of the time.

summery- the food and atmosphere are amazing
the service can be much better - but still we had a great time

“Superb restaurant but not above expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2013

Family lunch in the beautiful room of the famous "Le pré Catelan" restaurant (3 Michelin stars for as long as one can remember :-)).
The atmosphere of the place, in the middle of the Bois de Boulogne, invites you to a special moment. And a special moment it was, as the Chef does meet one's expectations. Among the 4 of us, we opted for the lunch menu (3 courses + cheese) and for the "Menu du pre" (7 courses), which allowed us to experience some of the house's specialties. Clearly, everything was at least very good but we were hoping for even higher standards. On the scale of such renowned French cuisine, we would say that only the "crab & caviar" entrée and the "Lemon dessert" did set new benchmarks. Other dishes, although subtle, refined and very nicely presented, did not impress us as much. This demanding remark should not be misinterpreted: the other recipes and preparations were undeniably very good but again, when you have the privilege to visit such a French cuisine institution, you are entitled to unusually high expectations.
The wine list is beautiful and the choice of wines is among the best we have seen.
Service was very friendly but maybe not as tight as you would expect in a 3-star restaurant (eg we had to ask for a refill of our glasses) but again this was absolutely not an issue as all serving staff were truly nice and willing to make us feel relaxed.
All in all, we had a very nice moment and we will certainly look forward to enjoying this beautiful restaurant on a future occasion.

“The experience and meal of a lifetime”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

Yes, it's haute cuisine and no, I'll probably never pay this much for a single meal in my lifetime, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The surroundings were exquisite but warm, and the service was extraordinary but gracious. Our head waiter was most accommodating to our request to speak in French as much as possible. He could not have been more kind. And then there's the food: simply amazing. Le Menu du Pres was 7 courses of absolute culinary bliss. The crab foam soup with caviar and creme was by far the best soup I've had, while the turbot wrapped in seaweed in a citrus butter was simply beyond description. I'm still not quite sure how they created La Volaille, but suffice to say that you'll never have chicken quite like this ever again. I don't have adequate words to decribe its smooth, creamy texture and wallops of flavor. The basil sorbet with lemon meringue croustillante was heaven on earth. The emphasis here is on simple ingredients created to produce the most intense flavor. On this night, they hit the mark on everything. I highly recommend this 3 Michelin star restaurant and would save for months again to experience this.

“Lunch at Pre Catelan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

we had a family lunch at Le Pre Catelan a few weeks ago. I had already been in this restaurant and liked it this time again. We had the lunch menu at 90 euros or so, very nice, but the cochon option for the main dish was a bit "too rich". Flawless service as expected for a 3 macarons Michelin. I would definitively recommend it, even more when the weather is nice as it is closed to the lovely American Garden. Only real downside: the Bois de Boulogne in which the restaurant sits has been invaded by prostitutes, really unpleasant when you drive by.
