Owner is a bit cheeky about making you read the menu in French, but it's all in good fun. Food was great, much higher quality than most other things in this neighborhood.

The food is very good, the only problem is the tables together. It would be better to get more space between the tables. Another thing is to offer more options to the Menu (Only 2), we tried the Duck and a Beef, both were great. The dessert is perfect. We ordered a Wine, but it wasn't so good, I think i did a bad choice.

we organized a dinner with 2 families (8 in total including 2 teens and 2 older kids) at 8 pm on a saturday night in early January. The exterior is adorable - a little house with dormered windows decorated with greens for the winter season. The interior is quaint. It is right next to the Shakespeare bookstore across from the Notre Dame Cathedral on the banks of the Seine. Prices were reasonable considering the location. The service was excellent and we enjoyed catching up with our friends in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The steaks our teens had were excellent and large but a caution to Americans: "rare" (saignant) here is absolutely raw and cold in the center and a' point (pronounced "ah pwan" ) is their medium rare but more like American rare. I like my meat still mooing and even for me the saignant was a bit too rare. We started with the fois gras and escargot which were both delicious. The escargot was served in a cream sauce and had a large puffed pastry on top. Entrees available that night were on a small challk board. I had some sort of slowly braised beef that was very tender and served on noodles. The profiteroles, a pastry filled with chocolate and covered in choc. sauce and a bit of whipped cream, were amazing. Consider starting with a kir royal and move on to some lovely french wine. Our choices included a lovely Sancerre and a Cotes du Rhone.

Next to Shakespeare bookshop, is located this good restaurant. Starters and main courses were good and tasty.

Service was typical french, but in a good way. Atmosphere was warm and traditional.

It's located on rive gauche, with a view of the Notre Dame. We went here with our three kids for lunch, and it was a bit of a tight fit, but it was not very busy since we came in a couple of minutes before noon. The more touristy places beside it were much musier. On the bottom floor there are two rows of tables touching eachother and one in the middle. On the first floor the tables are spaced out slightly more and you have a slightly better view.On the bottom floor there is the fire where the bread is toasted though.

We had four appetizers, the escargots, the goat cheese in ham, the goat cheese tart and soup of the day. The snails were good, the goat cheese dishes were more salad than than tart, but not bad if you like goat cheese. The soup was a simple vegetable soup which our kids liked very much. We had three mains, all of which were excellent. There was a giant beef steak, some terrific lamb chops and some delicious duck.

It was a bit expensive for you average lunch, but very worth while anyway and probably much prefereable to the places beside it if you have slightly more time and not just looking to still your hunger.
