It seems terrible to say that the best meal we had in Paris was Italian!! What a splendid restaurant Le Grande Venise is, it's an eating experience of a lifetime. Make sure you don't have breakfast or lunch if you go, it's like the horn of plenty, the food just keeps arriving. When we arrived they brought bread, butter, olives, italian cheese and a huge basket of fresh vegetables to the table. We all had the anti pasta to start with. 12 huge dishes arrived from which you helped yourself. The dishes included and enormous plate of cold meats with melon, salami and excellent parma ham etc, the other dishes included ratatouille, anchovies, mussels in cream, celery salad, lentils, crispy onions with aubergine, beans, red peppers etc. The main courses were also outstanding so if you can, pace yourself if you have the antipasta. We didn't, it was all too delicious. Before the dessert course they brought dishes of various stewed fruits with flavoured cream.
This is a very high quality (expensive, but worth every penny) restaurant. Great for a special occasion as it's lovely to sit in and there are beautiful fresh flower arrangements everywhere.
Highly, highly recommended.
