“Very Good Food & Unique Setting”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

I don't know why this restaurant gets so many average reviews. Perhaps it's because they charge a couple of Euros to take the boat over to the island, or perhaps it's because the prices are incrementally higher than the typical high prices in Paris, but we very much enjoyed our lunch on the island and thought the setting was quite memorable. Bois de Boulogne park is one of, if not the largest park in Paris. After walking around and exploring its many corners all morning, and then strolling around the lake (unfortunately it was too breezy to row around the lake), taking the boat over for lunch and sitting out on the patio overlooking the lake was a real treat. I tried the macaroni and cheese which was interesting in that it was several foot-long pasta tubes topped with cheese and rocket. It was advertised as a creamy cheese sauce, which is most certainly was not, but it was still served hot and was very good. My wife had a salmon and rocket salad which she loved (and she's a lot pickier than me). Add in a baguette and a carafe of red wine maand it was the perfect lunch before starting the process of getting back into town.

“beautiful restaurant, delicious food, when you eventually found it”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Lets deal with the only negative first - how to get there? Having spent 25 minutes in blazing sun walking through a very dusty park I'd say "take a taxi"!
I had booked this restaurant on the internet for a surprise birthday lunch and requested a table with a lake view. I wasn't happy with the table we were shown to, so we were immediately moved to another of our choice and given menus in English.
Our waiter was very intentive, although extremely busy, and polite throughout. We found the food to be much better than we expected and the wine reasonably priced.
This is a romantic restaurant for a special occasion in a very beautiful setting.

“Wonderful afternoon”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

I had the pleasure of being taken to this amazing restaurant on Tuesday by a good friend, the place is like something out of a story book. In the middle of a busy capital city, a lake appears and their once you journey across on the free ferry is a chalet straight off a chocolate biscuit box lid. We were seated on the terrace overlooking the water and the gardens on a blissfully sunny day. The wine and the food were delightful and not too expensive. Overall the experixne was a memorable one and I will be sure to return.
If you are seeking a great meal in great location way form the hustle and bustle of the city in Paris, to wont do much better than this.

“Terrible customer experience”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

Travelled for an hour across Paris today to eat here only to be turned away despite having made a reservation. We reserved a day before by telephone (in French) for 14.30 and when we arrived at that time we were told that the kitchen had just closed. We were given no indication when booking that our reservation clashed with kitchen closing! I cannot believe a restaurant would accept a booking and then not honour it when you arrive at the time of booking. When we complained, we were offered a choice of three cold plates, which we declined. Chalet des Iles is in a beautiful place but in my experience, customer service is non-existent.

“Romance in a bottle!”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

- Magical location on an island with a romantic 2 minute boat ride to get across
- Beautiful outdoor seating with thoughtful heating lamps (much needed on a cold summer evening)
- Excellent service
- Takes some getting to (almost 40 minutes in light traffic from St Germain de Pres)

Try to get there early if you can and walk around the little island. There's peacocks romping around and beautiful vistas all around.

We ordered a la carte and had a sumptuous meal without breaking the bank. The leg of lamb was outrageously good!
