Good overall experience. 1 out of 2 entree a hit, the 2nd one was a miss. Service was excellent. Setting was Superb. We sat beside a frequent diner to the restaurant. I have recommended this restaurant to few friends who I think would enjoy this experience and would be willing to pay for the price. This was better Michelin experience than my Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse experience in Monte-Carlo.
I emphasis it's the Michelin Experience, not necessary the food, to come here for. Food I had give it B+, but not A. What I come to understand Michelin restaurant serve, in my opinion, is the service and the fancy setting (except for the 1& Michelin I had tried in Hong Kong)
For grading A food serving, look for few restaurants recommended in Andrew Bourdain Paris series. One cafe he recommended there offers amazing food!!!

The meal was fantastic - we had the tasting menu on a Sunday night. Dishes were creative and fine. The staff had a wonderful sense of humour and we were warmly welcomed; we are not very talkative people but they created an atmosphere that was lighthearted and fun and full of laughter. The combination of great food and friendly people made it an exceptional dining experience. We were extremely full by the end of it but we finished everything, including the many complimentary desserts. Well worth the price.

My son and I try to go out for dinner once per week. Although he is only 13yo, he has really good taste for food and likes nice restaurants .... well, he just got his main dish and urged me to write a good review here. I think the challenge to find something better will be difficult.

If you choose well you can have a wonderful experience here. The food and service are excellent, but not as good as Guy Savoy at his restaurant or Yannick Alleno at Pavillon Ledoyen, or Pierre Gagnaire at his restaurant when he is in the kitchen. Also, check your bill- I had to correct an overcharge.

A straightforward review for an anything but straightforward afternoon:

If you are reading this review wondering whether to go to Epicure and drop 500 Euros for lunch - go. If you have never been to a three-star restaurant and are worried about protocol and feeling intimidated - don't worry, you are in the best possible hands at this place. If you are wondering whether the food is going to be weird and contrived, or French and heavy - it's not. Epicure is as unpretentious, yummy and yet refined as it gets. This was only our second time at the restaurant and we were greeted and treated almost as if we were regulars. And since we insisted the whole thing take place in French, they patiently indulged our attempts to speak and understand.

My husband decided to have the seasonal three-course 145 Euro menu, and because we like to share all our dishes and wanted something else to try, I went a la carte. For starters we chose smoked mackerel and crab with two different mayos respectively. Both highly recommended. Mains were sweetbreads and merlan de ligne, excellent. Both crab and fish, as well as one of the amuse-bouche, were slightly curried, a lovely aroma, flavorful and warm. For dessert we had strawberries and the flambeed cherries as well as well as the wonderful reconstituted citron. All were light fruity desserts that I love - last time we had their famous chocolate dessert, but that is almost too much to finish off a meal, especially if you have already liberally partaken of the best bread and butter in Paris, and also wish to have the best macarons in Paris after dinner! (Although, what a bummer, there were no cassis macarons on offer!) We asked to skip the cheese, which prompted our waiter, Mathieu, (an award-winning waiter and comedian) to deadpan "pas de fromage, pas de macarons." (He relented.) Our head waiter was exceptionally generous and witty as well. The service was perfect, in all respects. Hard-working personnel whose individual traits are allowed to shine.

We skipped the aperitif and each had three excellent wines by the glass recommended by the sommelier, including a red dessert wine.

As fantastic as their menu is - for me nothing beats their amuse-bouches: asparagus and pea puree, a shrimp lollipop, an eclair with foie gras, the kuglhof to rival Vandermeersch's, green tomato jelly with burrata emulsion, basil sherbet with strawberries...one day I would like a meal consisting of nothing but their finger food and palate cleansers! The discipline that goes into creating the one perfect bite is astounding. The pleasure of eating at this level is to experience what is possible, and to be allowed to judge at by a standard that one hardly encounters elsewhere in life.

We walked out after three and a half hours, with some lovely macarons and chocolates we had not been able to finish, and a rose in hand, into the never-ending rain, in a terrific mood.

Can't wait to go back. Merci à everyone at Epicure.
