Great seafood plateaux, very good fish. Yet very expensive (maybe because you have to pay for the menu on individual iPad)

We looked it up on Trip Advisor..... and had to go, and we were not disappointed!
Oyster deprived, and we were ready! From the minute we were on the corner outside this fantastic restaurant we were hooked... and we were not disappointed.
The menu is extensive and wine list ,and we went with their specialty Sea Food platter for 2, after much deliberation....it was the perfect choice. (See pics).
Being Australian and use to great oysters and being deprived for many months in Europe we were in heaven.
The seafood plate came with 2 tiers, bigger than the table but they have a lazy susan, above the table, beautiful presentation and so much seafood. It was 160 eoros, but it had 18 magnificent fresh oyster combination, plus cockles, clams, longestines, Alaskan Crab (huge) and a huge mud crab all with a spectaluar presentation.(see the pics)
One small problem, upon clearing the platter, we wore the balance of the seafood plate...yucky to say the least, and no sorry??? we were sodden and uncomfortable, but we don't complain, not sure why? but obviously an accident so 'se la vie'
The wine list is supurb...from Dom to Pol Roger and Poully Fuse to what ever you fancy.
We love fresh seafood and this is the best...so far

This is a wonderful looking restaurant, the decor, china (Limoges) ambience, indoor water-wall etc was all spot on - very well thought out (except the tables are a little too close).

The food was suburb, fantastic selection of seafood - much of it sold by weight so be aware!

I went with a group of 9 ladies, we ordered from across the menu - lobster, steak, trout, crab - everyone agreed it was exceptional. The wine list matched the food and had a great selection.

What was not superb was the service - in fact it was appalling, our waiter was a surly excuse for a server who has no business being in the hospitality trade. He was not interested in us or any other customers - from missing out people when wine was poured (and when asked to pour wine for the one who he missed being shouted at to wait) to rolling his eyes and sighing at us when we requested additional cutlery. I could go on but i'm sure you get the idea...

We did complain to the manager about the service and he was not really interested either. The youngish maitre d' realised we were unhappy and asked us to explain all the problems and he was extremely apologetic but didn't seem surprised by our problems with this particular waiter.

So based on that we would not go back or unfortunately recommend the restaurant to anyone else - which is a shame as everything else about it is fab.

Kurt Vonnegut's comment "in this world, you get what you pay for" sums up Le Bar a Huitres - it's expensive, but all quality. We arrived for an early dinner which I think is a bonus in this restaurant. There are many tables, some quite close and I'm not sure if the level of service would have been the same had the restaurant been full. Needless to say, we were spoilt. The menu is delivered on an iPad, platters and wine recommendations peppered throughout. Someone has put a lot of time into the design, it was impressive. The wine selection also appropriate for this class of restaurant. We chose the oysters and prawns, my goodness what an experience. The presentation is breathtaking and the quality and freshness exceeded my expectations. Everything about this night was perfect. The bill, well it is 5 star quality with a 5 star price - but "you get what you pay for". :)

We went as part of a business dinner with 5 people. I tried not to notice the prices but I had the sense it was quite expensive. But this enormous bounty of seafood arrived on two enormous platters, smoky from dry ice, which were planted on the table. There was something quite impressive in this presentation, as each platter had a huge range of lobsters, some huge, some small, some langoustines, a variety of oysters and other small shell fish. The platters were so large that when mounted on the table it was a bit hard to see the people on the other side. The food was good, but I cannot say it was great. The lobsters and oysters were enjoyable but not as fresh or delicious as I would have liked. My French colleagues were reasonably happy, though one of them, from Bretagne, thought the langoustines were a little suboptimal. The service was fine. Overall the restaurant was good but I cannot say it was really good or great, and it was fairly expensive, though that reflects the cost of seafood.
