We needn't have booked a table, as at 8 o'clock on Wednesday evening we were the only people in the restaurant until four Americans came in at about 8.30 and another couple an hour or so later. We wondered why the place was so empty until we got our bill! It was just not good value for money. The food was acceptable - I agree with another reviewer who said it was "nothing to rave about" - but it wasn't great, which it certainly should have been at 38 euros each for the main course and 20 for the starters. The service, by the owner, was very friendly and welcoming, but casual - it was a "local cafe", but with Michelin prices. We were not offered a prix fixe menu, only a la carte, which I feel was taking advantage of the fact that we were tourists: isn't the law in France that every restaurant must offer a prix fixe menu? I wish I'd remembered that before we ordered our meal!
