Description: La Grande Cascade is a gourmet restaurant located in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. For a romantic dinner in winter or an alfresco lunch on a sunny day in summer, La Grande Cascade is the perfect rendezvous for anyone who loves fine dining and beautiful scenery in Paris. Yet La Grande Cascade has not always been a restaurant, and this explains its unusual and truly exceptional decor. It was originally a lodge where Napoleon III, who came to the Bois de Boulogne to hunt, could take a rest. Over the years, La Grande Cascade has changed with the times while maintaining its unique "retro-modern" style. Inside, the gilding, chandeliers and mirrors offer a distinct charm to a residence that has retained its period magnificence.

we went for the “Menu du Marché” 96 € (including 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee), which, the Maître d’hôtel underlined, is not quite the same as the 2 other - more expensive - menus or “à la carte” dining … however, you get the same wonderful attentive service, with a smile and some humor, in the same beautifully decorated “retro-metro style” restaurant from 1900 with plenty of room between the tables … the food was may be not as fancy as the photos on their website but was nicely presented and very enjoyable …

A pleasant dinner - in an attractive, traditional 1910 setting. Most of the tables were taken, the restaurant was full in spite of the economic problems gripping France. It looks like the problems of the economy does not affect the upper end of the food preparation spectrum. “Haute cuisine" continues to do well.

General remarks:

We were well received. Professionally, pleasantly.

The service was professional, efficient. A well orchestrated service.

Beautiful food preparation. The combination of quality ingredients and creative combination of flavors made the experience at the Grande Cascade to be special.

A side remark - The reservation was made two weeks earlier but I did remember nor did I have the time to call the restaurant ahead of time to let them know that I have the celiac disease (I cannot consume glutens - flour and malt). The person taking care of our table understood the issue completely - he was well informed of the ingredients used in the food preparations. He was pleasant and professional. The chef and the some changes to the sauces and everything worked out perfectly well!

Overall a very good experience!

We came to Paris to celebrate my "BIG" birthday and this was where we chose to celebrate the occasion. It was certainly memorable for the atmosphere, the food and the great service. It is all a bit formal and a bit tongue in cheek. All four of us had the degustation menu - most dishes were haute cuisine; however a few disappointing especially the crab.
The total experience was somewhat surreal in that we felt we were part of an movie setting for an Agatha Christie novel. All customers, or should I say "characters" sat outside on the patio and the evening unfolded.
It was a great celebration - thanks to all.

The food was very good, well prepared. Not innovative. Very traditional. WIne list excellent. Very old school, elegant dining. Tuxedo clad waiters. Empty... Only two other couples. More staff than clientele. Perhaps a good spot for business dining..
Seems to be able to accommodate large crowds. Pharma company dinners would work here. Far..... Long taxi ride. Adds to the expense of the experience.
