“A little taste of traditional Paris”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

As soon as you enter you know you are going to be pampered with quality. The service is friendly and the discretion is balanced with pride. The endive and roquefort starter was delicious but hardly left any room for the slow cooked beef in the pot which was so beautifully simple it reminded you that some good French cuisine is wonderfully basic. A very comprehensive wine selection. It was finished off with a superb Calvados!

“A quality surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

Do not let the street view nor the surrounding fool you. This is a quality place. I don't mean fine dining as something peculiar. I mean traditional french dining with courteous service and lovely tastes.
Step right in and they welcome you warmly. It is a cozy and yet dignified place. There are cheaper places but this is not expensive. Worth your money, I am sure of it.

“Fantastique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

We ate here one evening with our children (age 11 and 14) and were treated to excellent service. The food was absolutely delicious. None of us had a dish that was anything other than excellent. If we'd had more time we would have gone again

“Excellent - delicious french cuisine. Best meal in Paris.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

Do not let the restuarant front put you off - this is a really classy and quality restaurant - reasonably priced as well if you go for the fixed price menu. Having tried a few of the other establishments in this area and been bitterly disappointed, this was a relief in so much as French food can be worth te trouble. I had nearly given up of finding a real French restuarant seeing as everyone says tha the standard of British food was way behind the French. I couldn't have agreed less with the previous restaurants that I ate at. Some rated highly restuarants by Fodors who obviously had not been lately were ok but not the of the standard that i was expecting. French cuisine seem to be a staple of roast chicken and mashed potatoes with big portions but none of the quality. La Gauloise is a stand out restuarant with a smaller menu but quality rather quantity. If you're in this area, make a beeline for this place as it sets the standard that all the other establishments should aspire to. Service was attentive with an English menu and English speaking staff who were only too willing to explain dishes. Like most of the other restuarants they also have a children's option on request. Don't miss out on the desserts. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we will be going again before we leave.

“Perfect couples hide away”

Great food and service. Both me and my fiance had delightful meals. The lights were turned low and it was very cosy in the restaurant. We were made to feel welcome from the off, speaking english wasnt a problem. Many thanks for a great night!
