We met another family of 4 here late on a Friday night in early January with our 2 teens while visiting Paris and staying at Le Meridien Etoile. We were just arriving from the Orly airport so it made sense to eat near the hotel. My expectations were low due to the location near the convention center but I was very pleasantly surprised. The seafood was amazing. We started with oysters on the 1/2 shell and shrimp cocktail which were very fresh. We followed up with the sole in a lemon butter sauce (ordered on the side). It too was very fresh and not soggy or swimming in a sauce. perfect! Our desserts were great - a melon sorbet, rhum au baba -a cake soaked in rum, profiteroles. Not clear on how rare "Saignant" is, we mistakenly ordered steaks for the kids and teens this way only to discover that they were cold/blue/completely raw in the center. The staff took them back and cooked them a bit longer and served the remaining dishes along with the steaks - ensemble - together. they did not act put out by our mistake. The next night, we learned to order steaks "a' point" pronounced "aw pwan". This is considered medium rare in France but is still very rare for American standards and just right for us. The restaurant is busy even late at night and therefore rather noisy and bustling. Not the best for a lot of conversation at a large table such as ours. The wait staff was plentiful and we had several staff members seeing to our table. Unfortunately, our main waitress , who was very nice and competent, had quite a cough which I found a little disturbing - she probably should have remained at home until well. a very quick walk to Le Meridien Etoile
