“a little dab will do ya!”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

We met another family of 4 here late on a Friday night in early January with our 2 teens while visiting Paris and staying at Le Meridien Etoile. We were just arriving from the Orly airport so it made sense to eat near the hotel. My expectations were low due to the location near the convention center but I was very pleasantly surprised. The seafood was amazing. We started with oysters on the 1/2 shell and shrimp cocktail which were very fresh. We followed up with the sole in a lemon butter sauce (ordered on the side). It too was very fresh and not soggy or swimming in a sauce. perfect! Our desserts were great - a melon sorbet, rhum au baba -a cake soaked in rum, profiteroles. Not clear on how rare "Saignant" is, we mistakenly ordered steaks for the kids and teens this way only to discover that they were cold/blue/completely raw in the center. The staff took them back and cooked them a bit longer and served the remaining dishes along with the steaks - ensemble - together. they did not act put out by our mistake. The next night, we learned to order steaks "a' point" pronounced "aw pwan". This is considered medium rare in France but is still very rare for American standards and just right for us. The restaurant is busy even late at night and therefore rather noisy and bustling. Not the best for a lot of conversation at a large table such as ours. The wait staff was plentiful and we had several staff members seeing to our table. Unfortunately, our main waitress , who was very nice and competent, had quite a cough which I found a little disturbing - she probably should have remained at home until well. a very quick walk to Le Meridien Etoile

“Magnificent”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

I was shocked at how low the rating was for L'auberge dab on Trip Advisor.
This has been my wife's favourite restaurat for years. We always recomend it to friends and have booked trips to Paris from England just to eat here.
We live by the seaside, so know our seafood and at L'auberge the food is fantastic. the decor enhances the experience as I liken it to sitting in an old fhoned clipper ship.
It always very busy, so that must tell you something, so take that into account with the service. We have recomended it to a very fussy friend ouf ours from Switzerland and were shocked when she used the term 'formidable' at L'auberge dab.

“Paris feeling”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Just great french food, large variety of freshest sea food, perfect service, large wine list, fair prices. Reservation recommended. Great place also for a Sunday lunch, when nearly no tourists will be there. Try the medium seafood platter for one person and share it. Certainly too much as starter for one person.

“Quite good, but not great”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

Visited on December 10th for a business dinner with about 19 colleagues. The bread was cold and seemed a bit stale (yes, I like rustic bread but this was too rustic). For starters I have Oysters which were quite nice but a bit watery. Sirloin steak for main course was a nice cut but quite under cooked (medium) and much closer to rare - a consensus shared by most people eating this choice. Inside the place looks quite nice and typically French but up close a little manufactured although I'm told it's a well known place. The service was efficient but a little aloof. Overall ok, maybe quite good.
