This noisy falafel / shawarma restaurant in Rue des Rosiers is highly overrated : the quality of the food is mediocre and the service is even worse; the opposite restaurant, MiVaMi, has much better food and nicer service. The waiters are downright rude to you (unless you are wearing a kippa, that is) and quite aggressive (the waiter heavily insisted we take some Israeli beer rather than Heineken). Regarding the falafel, any average Lebanese joint in Paris will give you better falafel and even MiVaMi, which is on the other side of the street, is better.
I guess the main motivation of clients coming here is to admire Netanyahu's picture on the wall...

I visited this place in 2012 after reading many good reviews. I went back 4 years later hoping it was still as amazing as it has been the first time. It was actually better than I remember. The service was great. Very friendly and attentive. Even gave us recomendations on a roof top bar nearby- Shawarma was amazing-

On our first full day in Paris, we West Coast foodies headed for this delightful spot for lunch. Outside, we were greeted by an "organizer" who had a rope barricade ready for us to wait behind. He was charming and ever-vigilant with walkie-talkie in hand to ensure that we were seated as soon as a table emptied. Of course, there is a take-away window, but we wanted the full experience. Once inside, the place was buzzing with activity. Although the tables were close together, we felt like long lost family members welcomed by all of the wait staff as we were served water, orders taken, and food delivered. The entire time we ate, the vibe was enthusiastic, cheery, and filled with sounds of happy diners munching. Every bite was delicious! My son and I had the Schawarma while my nephew ordered the fallafel plate. We also ordered an extra side of 10 fallafel balls for the table. Even though we ate as much as we possibly could, there were delightful leftovers that we gleefully took back to our apartment and savored for several days afterwards. All of it was an amazing value! I would return to L'As du Fallafel in a minute if I did not live in Northern California! Yum!!

I will cut thru the chase, yes it is worth the hype. hands down the best lamb shawerma sandwich with tehini and grilled eggplant I have ever had in my life. Make sure u get hot sauce too.

Went there for lunch, got a number and then walked around and came back 30 minutes later.

Got a side of falafel and those were delicious as well.

Aggressive sales techniques and average food. The owner himself is often on the street to entice people to eat his dodgy fast food. He claims to be the only "authentic" and the "first" in town, while in fact he is the most "aggressive" in town. The fallafel is average and you will burp it for hours afterwards. It is actually expensive for what you get: poor quality fast food combined with plenty of BS...
