This cafe opposite the Stravinsky sculpture (near the Pompidou Centre) is certainly a better bet than the cafe (more like cafeteria) in the Centre itself. They do a great croque monsieur with 2 types of cheese and green peppercorns - unusual but yummy! They also have a good value formule (10 euro for hot dish plus dessert plus drink). The waiters speak good English if you feel you're not up to ordering things in French.
