I had high expectations, having received a glowing recommendation from a foodie friend and reading all these great reviews, and was so pleased to learn that it was just around the corner from our rented apartment! I loved the look and feel of the place when I stopped by to make a reservation - the menu looked fantastic and I knew my teenage daughter would be very excited about the Shepherd's Pie on the menu. :) We arrived at 8pm, we knew we were early by Paris standards, and there were only 2 other occupied tables. The first thing we realized was that the menu we were given was different than what was posted in the window; when we inquired were told that they changed the menu a week ago but hadn't updated it outside. The new menu was completely different and unfortunately didn't have quite as many delicious-sounding choices ... and my daughter looked a little stricken as she's not the most adventurous diner! She ended up ordering the "runny" omelette and I had the cucumber-goat cheese starter followed by a very simply prepared seabass. Our meals were fine ... but unfortunately not great. As the restaurant got busier we received less and less attention, no one even came by to ask if I wanted another glass of wine (which I would have if asked). I am reading all of these reviews mentioning the friendly and helpful staff, but that really wasn't our experience at all - our orders were taken and we were served, that was all. There were only 2 people working, so maybe it was just an off night for them.
I was disappointed because the place looks perfect but the execution and experience fell short in my book. It was pricey, too - which I wouldn't have minded if it was truly a "wow" meal. Ah well ... c'est la vie!
