We spend a week in Paris every Spring and discovered Chez Toinette three years ago, thanks to its high ranking on Trip Advisor. Since then, it has remained our all-time favorite restaurant, and we try to dine there at least twice each trip. The location, the romantic and cozy ambience, and the food are simply the best. We are amazed every time at how tender and delicious the beef filet is (especially topped with a foie gras). The appetizers and desserts are equally delicious and artfully presented. Their chef is superb!
But what sets this dining experience apart from the rest is the warmth and friendliness of the charming husband and wife owners. Every year the first time we arrive, we are remembered and welcomed back with a big smile and warm greeting. Sometimes it includes a complimentary glass of champagne. The restaurant is always packed with people. It is amazing the watch this energetic and hard-working pair (or sometimes the husband alone) maneuver deftly through the tiny restaurant with steaming plates, bottles of wine thoughtfully recommended to complement your dinner selections, baskets of freshly cut baguette, or lifting and cleaning tables to prepare for the next guests. Towards the end of the evening the crowd starts to thin out a bit, allowing them time to visit briefly with the remaining diners, even topping off their after dinner drinks. Their attentiveness and customer service are outstanding.
Dining at Chez Toinette is truly an experience not to be missed. We are always sad to have our last meal there, but we are already looking forward to returning next year!
