“Dreadful, overrated place that doesn't deserve a visit!”
Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I were looking forward to a lovely brunch at the Cafe de la Paix but when we arrived we were told by the snooty Maitre D that they had no free tables - patently untrue as the place was three quarters empty.

Clearly our faces, clothes, general demeanour didn't fit, but as a (hopefully) respectable middle aged couple in Paris for the weekend we scarcely looked like trouble makers!

Dreadful attitude and poor advertisement for the City of Light. We won't be back.

“Parisian Ambiance, but poor veggie!”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

Excellent ambiance for a well-spent evening to massage the stomach and your senses. But, watch out: if you are a vegetarian, there is only a 'one-liner' on the menu: "ask the Chef". What they will tell you is: some simple steamed vegetables! It is a shame that in 2012 such a 150 year old restaurant did not have any dish for vegetarians.

Wines are OK. A wide variety of choices and prices. A wonderful place to be in Paris. Apparantly many Chinese/Asians have discovered this restaurant too. Pictures? Sure, take a few!

“This is a supberb Hotel”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

This Hotel is supberb, and I would recommend it to overseas visitors, who wish to visit the Opera, Galleries La Fayette and the
shopping of Rue St Honore, Faubourg St Honore. This Hotel and it's famous Cafe De La Paix has been a Paris institution since the opening of the Opera.

“This Restaurant is a necessary Paris Experience for visitors”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I have been coming to the Cafe De La Paix for around 40 years, the food in general and especially the seafood is excellent, as is the ambience. Sometimes, like many clients I visit in order to have a few fresh oysters and a glass of champagne, and just observe Paris walk bye, as others have done before me since the opening of the Paris Opera next door, during the reign of Napoleon 111, about 150 years ago.

I recommend this Hotel and Restaurant to overseas visitors, as it is next door to the Opera, a few blocks from Les Galleries La Fayette, and the shopping of the rue St Honore,
and Faubourg St Honore.
