Description: The famous Bouillon Racine is in the district of the celebrated Parisian university of the Sorbonne. This splendid brasserie was created in the art nouveau style by the Chartier brothers in 1906. The building itself is a listed building and the interior has been painstakingly renovated to its former splendour. The chef Alexandre Belthoise proposes a menu mixing modern and traditional French with specialities such as stuffed milk pig, beef stew or the creme brulee flavoured with maple syrup. The Bouillon Racine takes you on a wonderful journey through time back to the Paris of the 1900s.

The food here was good and we liked the atmosphere inside. I was upset though that we were overcharged on our bill. I would like to think this was a honest mistake but this was the second night in a row this happened to us in Paris. The bill was printed on a computerized system so I have a hard time believing there was an incorrect price for one of their prix fixe menus. I think it may be that some waiters try to overcharge tourists after they've had a couple glasses of wine, which I'm sure happens in a lot of big cities. Again, the food here was good but no matter where you go...carefully check your bill.

We were the Aussie half of jmaskills ' review .. And concur except for the picture reference . We needed to provide comfort to our friends who were coping with Brexit and the early Engxit from Euro 2016. I had a list of recommended restaurants from a friend but all closed on a cool , rainy Paris evening .. So finding this place on Tripadvisor was a godsend. The food and service were excellent - the beef was one of the best i have had in a while. Anyone also interested in Art Nouveau would find this bistro very pretty and interesting

And so, back to Bouillon Racine for another legendary meal. Seated in the glamourous and comfortable art nouveau surroundings of the downstairs dining room, we opted for the spinach and avocado soup (my wife, she declared it to be as wonderful as ever, comforting and tasty and creamy and gorgeous), while I had the utterly beautiful lentil, trout and poached egg salad. Her main, the steak tartare was just perfect, my tuna with ratatouille too, and the dessert (we split one, being rather full by then!), was an amazingly good chocolate and raspberry mousse with fresh berries, which was sweet and comforting and sharp and zingy at the same time. Washed down with a bottle of local chardonnay, and a nice chat with two American travelers at the next table, we spent a very pleasant two hours there indeed. We will so definitely be back!

As a group of 7 we managed to sample a reasonable portion of the menu. The food was very good to excellent. The wine list was fairly extensive (covering most of France) and ranged from genuinely affordable to mortgage testing. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Recognising that we were a mixture of English and Australian we got menu's in French and English (plus pictures for the Ozzie's). Highlights included French onion soup, filet steak and the Mercier champagne. Hard to fault. We'd be very happy to go back.

My husband and I were part of a group of visitors to the Sorbonne in May and so we found ourselves in this beautiful place. The surroundings are gorgeous, particularly if you are lucky enough to be dining upstairs with all the beautiful mirrors just like Versailles!

Service prompt, friendly, attentive and efficient. We had the duck. Presentation, quality and taste were superb. Dessert was creme brûlée...the way creme brûlée should be done and it was well let's just say it was pure perfection.

All contributed to the very many happy memories I have of Paris since first visiting as a 17 year old on a school trip. Paris is such a beautiful city. Take. Time to find the really special places like Bouillon Racine. There you will find an absolute treasure and won't be disappointed.
