As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were blown away with the ambiance - very Parisian. The restaurant is more than 100 years old and family photos that adorn the walls add to the charm - not to mention the fabulous artwork, some of which was a bit risqué! The menu was in French but our host (who spoke English) very helpfully explained the dishes to us. We started with smoked salmon with cous cous and sautéed mushrooms - the mushrooms especially were delicious. Then filets of duck and slowed cooked beef served with mashed potatoes-again delicious. We finished with a selection of cheeses with fresh figs and dried fruits - a perfect ending to this delightful meal. As animal lovers we were enchanted with the little cat that curled up on the chair next to us - so cute!

We found this place on the internet and decided to eat there prior to going to the Moulin Rouge
for the show

When we arrived he place was empty - then a crowd of a dozen or so Russians arrived. Madame seated them then sat at a table sorting out receipts and repeating how tired she was

I started to get a bad feeling about the place especially as the waiter then threw his order book onto a table in temper. It did not bode well

After 15 minutes we were still waiting to place our drinks order and I was dying of thirst as we had had a very long journey that day

However, after I hailed Madame and explained that we had limited time due to being booked into the show then things began to move

We had a limited choice on the menu as we do not eat meat and the menu is very traditional French based food. However, we found dishes to suit us and they were excellent. I had a starter for my main course, herrings and warm potato salad and it would have fed two for a main never mind a starer!

I think the locals love it because just as we were finishing our meal a huge party arrived

We would certainly return - the slapdash service was part of the charm. The Russians got their starters just as we left but they were too busy knocking back he wine to notice, I think

We randomly bumped into this restaurant and it turned out to be one of the best experiences ever! Historical place with amazing food! The waitress was so kind and friendly, she translated the entire menu for us and kept coming back very often to make sure that we are happy. We started the dinner with foie gras d'oio which is def a MUST try when in France! We took meat for main dish that was literally melting in mouth! The great food was accompanied by great Beaujolais VIllages French red wine. Overall truly French experience with great service!

This family owned restaurant is near tourist place in Montmartre, but probably the local people like to eat here more than tourists. The food and the wine is really perfect. Try rabbit, oyster, duck - everything is just fine. You will not find English menu, but the waitress will explain you everything. That is the real place I will visit next time I will be in Paris.

We actually loved the place. It is in Montmartre. We knew what exactly we wanted to eat, and did not need guidance of the service personnel but they are generally really nice and welcoming. They had a baguette to die for and in my opinion provides great value. If you are looking for a not extremely expensive posh restaurant for celebration etc and if your are looking for a local bistro with delicious food, you will love it in a la Pomponette!
