“Perfect Paris apartment”
Reviewed November 21, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

This delightful compact studio apartment is in the perfect location in Paris on Boulevard Haussmann in the 8th Arrondissement. Everything is within walking distance - half an hour to the Eiffel Tower, Monmartre, Luxembourg Gardens & Left Bank, 20 minutes to the Louvre, Tuileries Gardens & Arc de Triomphe, 10 minutes to Gare St Lazare (train to Vernon for Monet's Garden). Plenty of food shops including Monoprix supermarket & an organic food store 2 minutes walk away.

Marie & Pascal are kindness personified. From Pascal providing a meet & greet service at the airport & travelling in on the airport bus to the provision of a mobile phone with their phone numbers programmed, free wifi & international calls to several countries from the apartment to Marie providing an escort to the bus or train station on departure, one could not wish for more attentive hosts. Their attention to detail is the icing on the cake.

The apartment is in 5th (top) floor of a beautiful Haussmann building in a very safe part of Paris. The building itself is very secure - security code to get in the front door, separate code for the elevator then a key to get from the elevator lobby into the corridor leading to the apartment.

The apartment is light & bright, exquisitely clean & very well appointed, giving a feeling of a bigger space. 2 lovely small balconies are perfect for breakfast or relaxing with a cup of coffee. The kitchen has every cooking utensils you could think of, including picnic utensils.

There are folders with maps, bus routes & timetables, brochures for nearby restaurants, small lesser known galleries & all manner of tourist attractions. The folders with operating instructions & photos of dials on all utilities eliminates the mystery of trying to translate them from French to be able to operate them.

Highly recommend Marie's walking tours to see the Paris of Parisiennes. She clearly loves her city & has an in depth & proud knowledge of French history & culture. Stopping at local cafes & restaurants was a highlight of the experience.

“Paris for New Year 2016”

We drove to Paris from Amsterdam and stayed at Malsherbes Hotel for NYEve and met Marie and Pascal in the morning of the 1st Jan. They are a delightful couple who helped us immediately with our luggage and were very informative on where to go and transport tips.
They gave us a cell phone to use to contact them in case of emergencies not that we had to use it!
The apartment was light bright and very nicely decorated. As it is a studio apartment it is understandable that itis small but with the 2 balconies it is a delight to hear and watch the Parisiens go by. Windows are triple glazed and we heard no traffic at all. The kitchen is well appointed with all utensils and a drip coffee maker. The bathroom is a little small but once again it is a studio. There needs to be more shelving for the toiletries that tourists use.
My only complaint was the fold out bed, even though it was relatively cosy, both my husband and I are over 6 ft so the bed was not as supportive as I would have liked.
The apartment has a chocolate shop, grocery store, St Augustin Metro Line 9 which is also within walking distance to connecting trains at St Lazare, coffee shops and 4 restaurants all within 4-500 metres. Up Haussmann there are many boulangerié and pattiserries all walking distance to the apartment!
Lovely experience and Marie and Pascal were so obliging even meeting us at the apartment on the day we were leaving at 7 am to ensure we got on the right bus to the Airport :)

Thank you agsin Marie snd Pascal!!!!

“Awesome location and beautiful apartment”

The apartment is extremely well located. You can reach anything within some minutes of walk (even though you have the metro downstairs). The apartment is fully furnished for its size. A couple can fit perfectly good. Space is limited but enough if you are there for tourism (meaning that you normally do not spend much time, except for sleeping during the night). The owners couldn't be more welcoming and open to serve. From maps to tours, and from flexibility to help with the luggage, anything. They did not only wait for us at the train station but also took us to the train towards the airport at checkout. I would recommend this apartment to any close friend.

“Positives and negatives”

Positives: Owners Marie & Pascal are helpful, knowledgeable and available (through dedicated cell phone which they supply). We were met at the airport upon arrival and escorted to the airport bus when leaving. The rate is very reasonable, the apartment is in a good neighborhood with restaurants and markets nearby. WI-FI, phone, kitchenette, 2 small balconies included. The place is light, airy and clean.

Negatives: Apartment is very small, even by Paris standards and the bed is a pull-out couch. When extended there is very little room to move about. There are closets but no room to put suitcases and no shelf space in the bathroom. A $70 payment before arrival is due to hold the reservation. Payment of the balance is asked for upon arrival IN CASH and there is a multi-page rental agreement signed ahead of time. This leaves the feeling that you are stuck with the arrangement even if you object to the cramped size of the place. There are several keys and codes to keep track of for various doors. A one-time $70 maid fee is added on which makes the price less of a deal. The photos are misleading because they show an elegant building. There are no photos of the apartment, possibly due to its small size. Definitely better suited, size-wise, for a single person than for two.

I went for a first time to Marie's place in 2013. It was a girl trip and we loved it.Obviously I could not wait to go back, like all the previous reviews you want to go back for two reasons the best location appartment and Marie.Like the TV show House Hunter it is always Location-Location-Location ! You will not find a better location then this and the feeling of security.Everything you need is in this appartement and it is so clean. I had take tours with Marie the first time, I had such great memories of Paris by night that I took it again, my husband loved it. I again took a day in Paris with Marie and again was not disappointed and again I learned new things about this city that Marie just loves. She and her husband are amazing peoples. As for the shopping lovers well your balcony is overlooking the famous Galeries Lafayette, it is magical. We also like that the Monoprix ( French grocery store ) is across the street . Marie in the day tour did bring us to a streat were French peoples go get their food, we went back a couple time. We also liked the chocolat place, very friendly, nice owner with amazing chocolates. You are also five minutes fron the Gare Saint-Lazarre for other daytrips you can go with Marie. It is so central that you can have access to all the sites you need to see. OH! since I again loved it so much I am going back next year and will take the tour of Champagne and Reims. I also told some friends at work about this place and Marie, like me, they went, they loved. I also want to thank Laeticia who came with us to the bus stop with us because Marie was out of town ( and she takes good care of her guest till the end of your trip ) it was nice getting to know you and very nice of you to come with us.Marie thank you for making our trip magical you are a very special women.

“Great apartment in a good location”

We stayed for 5 nights in this apartment at 85 Boulevard Haussmann. Marie and Pascal met us at the train which was great. We also took 3 tours with Marie which we found very informative. This apartment while small by Australian standards was very clean and modern and had everything we could possibly need. Marie was also helpful with information about catching transport and posting goods back home. On one of tours she took us to a place that sold crepes in the Latin Quarter where I could get gluten free which was delicious. I will be recommending this apartment to family and friends back home who are looking at visiting Paris. This is a very safe area and walking distance to many attractions.
