“centrally located Hotel”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Spent a day at this hotel. What convinced me to book this venue was its central location and the good promotional deal obtained on an internet booking service. I had a superior room located on one of the top floors. The hotel was recently renovated and presents itself as a 'boutique' style hotel. There was nothing to fault in the room. There was a narrow balcony overlooking the rue des pyramides. With double glazed windows, street noise was not a problem. The bed and matress were both firm, comfortable and new. The airconditioning was working perfectly, which is rather rare in parisian hotels. Whilst the bathroom was on the small side, it was functional with marble throughout, a tropical rainshower and Hermes toileteries adding a welcome touch. The room itself was rather compact, but in Paris most hotel rooms are on the small side. Breakfast was included in the package, and taken in the ajoining restaurant to the hotel 'oscar'. The buffet breakfast contained practically everything one can desire. The service at the reception was professional, and they were willing to accomodate me by showing me two other rooms as the one allocated to me was not yet ready due to a late checkout and I wished to unpack rapidly. Two small minor issues were that the flatscreen TV was not functioning, and the bathtub had drainage problems. However since I only spent a night these were mere trifles. Overall, this hotel benefits from its excellent and central location; next to a metro station with direct links to the major train stations. I would seriously consider staying at this venue again, provided that the regular room rates are reasonable.

This older hotel is convenient to the Louvre, Opera, Musee d'Orsay and Tuilleries Park. Pleasant walking in a safe neighborhood. The breakfast buffet was quite good and overall service was excellent. Americans will find the rooms on a bit small but the trade-off for such a good location still makes it an excellent choice.

This hotel in the heart of Paris is in the perfect location for museum visits. Within walking distance to the Louvre, Musee d'orsay, Museum of Decorative Arts, Musee de l'Orangerie, etc., etc. Easy walk to shopping at Galleries Lafayette and Printemps as well as many restaurants and cafes. The hotel is small, with excellent multi-lingual, helpful staff. Includes room service and also has a restaurant on site.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lumen in Paris. It was a nice older hotel in a great location. About a five minute walk to the Louvre and on/off bus stop. Local tour office was just a few doors away. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. They even provided a small welcome bottle of complimentary wine. We did have a small problem with a power fluctuation but I believe that was an isolated unfortunate experience. Wireless internet was not protected. The breakfast buffet was included and was quite nice. Cold cuts, cheeses, tomatoes, breads, jams, assorted rolls, cereals, yoghurts, eggs, even specialty coffees and cocoa - something for everyone. The Italian restaurant across the street had delicious food. Overall I was quite pleased and would stay there again.

Location, location, location! So very close to the Louvre, a huge tourist info office, a laundromat, many nice cafes, a couple metro stations, and not far from many other tourist sites. What more could you ask for? Staff was helpful. The bottle of wine at check-in was a nice touch. The daily chocolates were a bonus. The robes and slippers left for our use were thick, rich terry, white, not leopard (as mentioned in another review). Towels were the luxurious, large bath sheets, and the heated towel rack was appreciated. Unfortunately, the rain shower was positioned to always spray some water on the floor, no matter how careful you are. The shower had no door, just an 18 inch panel near the shower head - not wide enough. The breakfast buffet was a wide variety, and it was good, but it was exactly the same every day and the cook didn't show up on our last day, so there were no eggs. One more small negative: the walls in the entrance hall to the elevator were black, and light was very minimal, so that part was dreary. Plenty of light in the room, though.

This is a lovely hotel...tasteful decor and very clean! Importantly, the staff were freindly and helpful. Lots of choice for breakfast, which we made the most of - Paris prices are expensive, so it was good to start the day with a hearty feast! Above all, the location is perfect - just around the corner from the impressive Louvre and central to all the other world famous sites! One thing not to be missed apart from the obvious though - the 'padlock' bridge...walk to the Seine (5 minutes away) and head towards Notre Dame and you will find it!

Room Tip: The standard rooms are prefectly adequate for a stay, not spacious, but they are very comfortable. N...

My husband and I recently spent four nights at the Hotel Lumen. As most of the other reviewers have noted the hotel's location is excellent, perfect for walking to the main tourist-sights in Paris plus also the shopping districts and some great cafes/restaurants. On arrival, the gentleman at the reception was friendly and helpful as was the porter who showed us to our room. The room was great, quite big by Paris standards and well-furnished. Just like the pictures on the hotel's website. Our room overlooked Rue des Pyramides and I can honestly say that the street noise did not bother us at all. The room was surprisingly soundproof. Breakfast was good with all the usual 4-star breakfast offerings. The french yoghurts and all the really fresh pastries were a highlight. Breakfast was included in our room rate, however if you book a room without breakfast I suggest that you go to one of the close-by cafes as it was not really worth 22 Euros per person. I recommend this hotel.
