“Magical Stay”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

Just returned from a three night stay at Hotel Lumen. We had an absolutely fantastic stay with them. We were very kindly upgraded so had a beautiful room with a balcony and views of the Louvre, which was beautiful.

The location is perfectly placed for both the Rue St Honore and the Louvre, with most main attractions within walking distance if you like to travel on foot.

Breakfast was a lovely little buffet, my only suggestion would be to add more fresh fruit as I found it, as well as most food in Paris, quite carb heavy.

Our only negative would be to do with booking cabs via the hotel. We booked to be taken back to Gare du Nord, which would be about 12 euros in a street taxi. However, the hotel did not tell us that a surcharge of 9 euros is added to the journey just for booking through them. I found this a little naughty as we had to stop and get more cash and a street taxi would have been cheaper and easier.

Overall though, beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms and a beautiful location. A must if staying in Paris.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room, views are beautiful.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your kind comments and for taking the time to share your impressions with us.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us .
We took good notes of your comments regarding our Buffet breakfast, and we will work on it to improve it.
Regarding the taxi, I am so sorry that the front desk did not tell you about the surcharge when you call a taxi in Paris.
I hope to welcome you back in the future .

The hotel was amazing, it was central to all the major tourist attractions, it's decor was modern and it added a little bit of glamour to our perfect weekend away!!! The concierge was fantastic and helped us to plan to make the most of our time in Paris!!! The only downside for me was that there was no tea/coffee facilities in the room, so we had to find some beautiful cafes, so it wasn't that much of a problem.
All in all a perfect place to stay when visiting Paris!!

Dear guest,
Thank you for choosing the Hotel Lumen Paris Louvre and for posting your comments.
I am thrilled to read that you enjoyed your stay with us.
Regarding the coffee facilities in the room, unfortunately this is not available at the Lumen. In fact as our restaurant O'scar is open every days and have a wonderful terrasse with a view on the Saint Roch Church, we thought that it was a good alternative for our guests.
Hopefully we will have the pleasure in welcoming you back in Paris in the future.

Best regards.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Lumen in Paris. Great location, great service and great room.
Buffet breakfast served in a pleasant restaurant was copious. Also, fare was very reasonable for a 4 star hotel. Will be back.

Room Tip: My room did not have a view but was very quiet.

Had a fantastic mini break with my husband and seven month old at Hotel Lumen, the staff are excellent. We arrived at 11am and was told our room would be ready at 3pm but we could store our luggage and if the baby needed anthing they were happy to help. the room gives nightly choclates on the pillow and a weather report brilliant!
The man at the front desk was so nice and helpful i felt like no request would be a problem, the room and location down to Hermes shampoos are great. This hotel is in walking distance of great restaurants and of course the louvre. Would highly recommend and a big thanks to all the staff

Had a great weekend in the zen suite. The jacuzzi bath in the room is massive and designed for two. Nice views of surrounding rooftops from the room. Not a massive room in itself, but big for Paris.

The hotel is very friendly and good quality overall, but the common areas are not what you might get in a bigger hotel like Sofitel for example. But this is a good four star place. The zen suite will cost you the same as a superior room in Sofitel. This is without question the better choice. Unique room, lots of character. The hotel is in a fantastic location. Easy walk to major museums or even saint German across the river.

Great option for anyone wanting to avoid major chains. Very helpful and friendly staff.

We were two couples recently in Paris for a few days and unfortunatley the accommodation we had booked ( not with this hotel) was unavailable and we found ourselves out on the street with our luggage. Due to there being a fashion show on in Paris, accommodation was extremely difficult to get ( not one of the last minute internet sites had a room available). We tried the Paris Tourist Bureau and they were not interested in helping us.
Fortunately for us their office was near the Hotel Lumen so we went in there and enquired about rooms but they also were fully booked.
But what a difference - the receptionist after hearing our story set about trying to find us two rooms for the night . She worked tirelessly for about three hours , and despite many knockbacks she did not give up finally finding us a room with two double beds . During this time a waitress from their restaurant was very kind offering us the use of their WCs - drinks and somewhere to sit (we had been standing on the streets while trying to find accommodation for many hours)

They did not have to help us -it was not their problem and there was nothing in it for them - but they did .When we left they even gave us a hug ,wished us well and asked us to let them know how we got on . If this is indicative of the friendlyand dedicated service the staff in this hotel provide it must be a wonderful place to stay and when you are a long way from home (Australia ) this means a lot.

We stayed here for four nights in early October. We have particular need for a wheelchair accessible room. Our travel agent contacted the hotel personally and was assured that the room was fully wheelchair accessible except for the bathtub where they would place a seat. The door into the room was barely wide enough to allow the wheelchair through and the door closer spring was so strong that a wheelchair person traveling alone would not be able to open the door on their own. The same problem existed with the door to the bathroom. Additionally, the spaces between the hall and the door and the room and the bathroom had small steps. Again, a wheelchair person traveling alone would have major problems negotiating these problems. Even if a person wanted to take a shower - wheelchair or able bodied - the water pressure was so low that only a trickle of water came out from the shower. The sink was not accessible for the wheelchair person in that a cabinet extended in front of the sink to almost the floor. Lastly, there was very little open space in the room in order to move around in the wheelchair.

Almost forgot: cleaning service: on our last full day we left at 9:00 AM for an all day trip out of Paris. We placed the "please clean the room" door hanger on the door before we left. We arrived back at 4:30 PM [16.30] and they were just starting to clean the room then.

This is definitely NOT a four star hotel. I might even question it being a two star hotel.

The only positive side to this hotel is that it is only about five city blocks from the entrance to the Louvre.

The restaurant next door, Oscars, was great and reasonably priced.

Would never stay here again.
