“A magical new restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014

Finding an emotion is never easy but if you want to access to the gastronomical Nirvana, run rue du Cardinal Lemoine, just opposite the institutional Tour d'Argent in a very small restaurant (20 seats only) recently opened by the owner Chef, Atsushi Tanaka.
This young Chef from Japan has been working in several of the most famous restaurants around the world: Pierre Gagnaire (***) in Paris, De Pastorale (**) in Belgium, Oud Sluis (***) in the Netherlands, Quinque Da Costa (***) in Spain... He learnt so much from these experiences he has been able to open his own address in April and what a revolution for the Parisian restaurant scene.
In view of an important familial dinner in October, I wanted to give a try to this restaurant and I went for lunch yesterday and what an experience... It starts with a young and dynamic team, very efficient and full of kindness. Right away you will be in restaurant A.T., you will feel comfortable and fully ready for a really impressive and unique lunch/dinner.
The design is contemporary and pretty ascetic to be in perfect harmony with the cuisine of Atsushi. Simple beautiful materials; A white, black and grey scheme of colors and just a piece of Art very colorful on the wall.
The cuisine of Atsushi Tanaka is highly inspirational, using the freshest ingredients, mixing flavors like never and each dish is a masterpiece of Art. It is that beautiful you may be shy to start to eat but don't hesitate because every single dish of the menu was an explosion of flavors, simply delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and I absolutely loved the very personal touch of this Chef who will become, for sure, one of the best Chefs in the world.
I've been lucky to go in some of the most exclusive restaurants in the world (Eleven Madison Square in NYC; The French Laundry in California; Hof Van Cleve in Belgium; Quintessence in Tokyo; Gordon Ramsay in the UK; all the french ones and much more...) but the emotion I've had yesterday at A.T. restaurant had been very special and unique.
Moreover, this is the best value for money you can find... For 45 Eur for lunch (85 Eur for dinner), you will enjoy a tasting menu giving you a great idea of the Chef's talent. Every single dish of the menu was irresistible and better than to explain in details what I've had, just go because you will do not regret and the menu is often changing.
The only thing which could be improved is a quite limited wine list even if interesting with organic wines but not extensive enough and I don't really like to pay for non mineral water...
Anyway, A.T. is undoubtedly the very best address in Paris from now on and I wouldn't be surprised to see this incredible Chef winning the most prestigious awards. A lunch/dinner at A.T. is a feast, a very special moment full of pleasure, joy and unparalleled emotion.

“One of the best meals of a lifetime!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2014

By our great good fortune we walked by this restaurant with some friends who live in Paris. They said they had had lunch there and it was one of the best meals they had ever had. We here report that the same holds for dinner!
Here's the scene: a small, elegantly minimalist room with gray walls and a colorful abstract wood slat sculpture on two walls. The tables are black rubber with an aluminum frame. It's Zen and relaxing.
There follows three of the most incredible hours of eating eleven small courses. We started with carbon chips served standing in a pile of sea salt - as delicious as they were unexpected. Then salmon with tiny potatoes and juniper; crab with asparagus and hazelnut; veal with rutabaga and rosemary; jack mackerel with cucumber and lovage; tuna with kohlrabi and quince; whelk with wild leek and asparagus; hake with celery and hay; pigeon with leeks and rhubarb; and for dessert beets with raspberry and Szechuan pepper; and concluding with tonka beans and chocolate!! [All descriptions translated from the French.] Each course is served in or on a different vessel or plate. They are artistically arranged - a decorated mound in the center, a small patch at an edge of a plate, scattered across the botton of a bowl, etc. There are often plant leaves, flowers or sprigs for both flavor and decoration.
I listed them all to emphasize that there is no fat in any dish - the exquisite flavors all come from herbs and spices. Many of the dishes have a clear sauce. The combinations may seem a bit improbable but the result is indeed the meal of a lifetime.
The restaurant offers wines with each course but we did not see anyone doing it; I think that much alcohol would diminish the pleasure of the meal. We began with a flute of champagne and had some glasses of wine along the way. All were superb in keeping with the food.
All of the international (Japanese, French, Belgian, American) staff are also chefs. They work in both the kitchen and serve tables.
Our deepest thanks to M. Atsushi Tanaka and his staff. They have created a restaurant very special.

“Sublime meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2014

Still got great memories of the carbon chips, lobster dishe and incredible tonka bean flan.Oh and the elder flower desert. Elegant, sculptural and delicous food and an experience spent with a warm and friendly team. A star is soon to burst here. Go while you can get a table
