Starting close to Place de La Bastille, Coulée Verte René-Dumont (La Promenade Plantée) is a sanctuary of green close to the centre of the hustle and bustle of Paris. The western part running high on a disused railway line is popular with runners and walkers, and those who want to just relax amongst the beautifully cared-for trees and flowers.
You can climb up to the Promenade Plantée from several places along its length. But the path – and the entrance points - are not well signposted, even close by.
Highly recommended for an hour or three for visitors to Paris, and easily accessible by bus, metro and tram T3 (at the eastern end). It is mostly wheelchair accessible.
