Advice. . . . Do this tour at the beginning of your stay in Paris ! Plan to check out note dame cathedral and climb the tower before going then you'll have that ticked off the list. We Just arrived back from a week in Paris and had to say that out bike tour set just the right tone for our visit! Mum, dad, two girls (10 & 12) and my 78 year old mother all participated. IAIN was our guide ( bike guide/bartender and man about town) and he showed us a great time for 3 1/2 hours. We shared some bad jokes, learned some pretty cool little known details about Paris (like to look out for the 'aliens' on the corners of buildings and what they mean/and where to get fresh water for free in the city) and we even checked out some of his restaurant recommendations. All of us felt "included" and he made an extra special effort with the kids and went at a pace that didn't tax my mum. The bikes were in ok shape but they do need to do some maintenance ( bolts missing on the mudflap frames on the kids bikes etc) and they should offer helmets to those of us who come from countries where we have helmet laws :) but all in all an afternoon well worth the $. Nice small group for the afternoon tour - We had 9 in our group ! Good follow up email with the restaurant/bar guide, map of where we went and the "alien" info site link :)

Riding around Paris in 35 deg heat doesn't sound easy but to my surprise I have just finished this fabulous tour and survived! I can thoroughly recommend it and assure you it isn't too arduous. It was wonderful to bike around the back streets. Our guide was knowledgeable, very good checking for safe crossings, and knew lots of the history. On the bikes you got a lovely breeze so it looked better than the walking tours.

We (a couple) loved this trip on a bike through Paris. Don´t think it´s dangerous, because the guides lead you through streets away from the crowded areas. Our guide Fox was very nice and had lots of little stories to tell. If you would like to see lots of things - spend a few hours and take a bike tour. It also gives you a perfect overview of the city center. Our warmest recommendation: dress in comfortable clothes, take your camera, hop on the bike , relax, and enjoy!

We did two bike tours with BikeAbout, the Parisian Day and Versailles. Both of them were brilliant and both became immediate hightlights of our trip.
The best parts of each tour were the guides, Iain and Angelica. They were both so knowledgeable, funny, energetic, and genuinely interested in not only making our experience on the tour the best it could be, but also our overall experience in Paris.
The Parisian day tour was a little over three hours and included visits to a lot of places we would have never even known to visit on our own. We stopped for a gelato/pastry break on a lively street in the Latin Quarter and took some goofy Lourve bike photos. This tour was one of the first things we did while in Paris and I recommend that since you quickly get a lay of the land and know where you'll want to visit again more in depth.
Versailles, the palace, is huge, but it also sits on acres and acres of beautiful land and gardens that you get to see on the tour. Fortunately, because you're doing it on a bike, you can cover a lot of ground without wearing out your feet. The parts I loved best about this tour were the stop in the farmer's market, the Grand Canal picnic, the musical fountains, and Marie Antoinette's pretend hamlet (which you don't get with other tours). It's an all-day event, so bring sunscreen and maybe a hat during the summer. Oh, and definitely get a crepe when you're at the market. :)

I highly recommend this activity in Paris. We did the four hour tour on our first day in the city and it gave us a great introduction. Our guide Sol was friendly and knowledgeable, leading us through the city's busy traffic with ease. The two twelve year olds with us also had a great time. We did it in Summer and it was hot, so take plenty of water. At 30 euros, I think this activity is really good value for the money.
