“Great quality at a reasonable price.”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

A basic hotel, with no frills, clean and with very nice staff, through some receptionist speak only french. My room was comfortable enough for one person and had a wonderful view on Paris. No breakfast included, but the Mc Donald's next door serves an acceptable continental breakfast for 2.50 euros.
It's very close to the Metro Station Jaurés, so it' easy to get to al the main tourist attractions. I also reccommend a walk in the Buttes Chaumont Park, which is 10 minutes from the hotel. The neighborhood is not as bad as some reviews say.
Excellent quality for 60 euros per night!

Room Tip: I recommend to ask for a room at a high floor, because the street is very noisy. From the 7th floor...

When I first read some reviews, I was shocked, especially of some VERY OLD PHOTOS,which showed old filthy tapestry etc. Nothing of that is true now, the hotel got s face lift, very neat and clean. The reception ladies are very helpful and some speak English too. Although it is not a fashonable disdrict, everything is near and with the metro, one is in no time in the centre of Paris.Jaures is a multicultural neighborhood, and I was really astonished how helpful everybody was, exspacially with the suitcase. You didn't have to ask, in a second they picked up my suitcase and carried it up or down the stairs.I haven't been in a world metropolitan city where people were so polite and helpful as in Paris. There was nobody who denied an answer. With a "Bon jour, Madamey, sil vou plais and the name of the building, everybody stopped and gave you an answer. It was really amazing.Prizes in bakeries and small restaurants are cheaper as in other cities and much more tasty. My girlfriend and I had a good time, saw a lot and enjoyed our stay very much in this beautiful city.

Room Tip: from the 7th floor one has an excellent view to Sacre Ceur.It is a little bit noisy, 2 metro station...

Stayed in this hotel with some friends over a weekend, it was perfect for what we needed literally right outside Jaures metro station so was easy to get around. There was a nice bakery around the corner for mornings and lunches. This area is not very touristy more where people live but it didn't matter as we travelled around sight seeing. Staff at the hostel were very friendly no complaints. Rooms were very clean provided with towels, would recommend taking slippers for the bedroom floor as it was a dry feeling on your feet. We had no problems here rooms were cleaned daily. Highly recommend this hostel if your looking for a reasonably priced bed for the night.

The pricing of the hotel is affordable. Rooms are clean as well as the toilets. However, the carpet was rather troublesome though. Remember to bring or wear room slippers since it felt like stepping on dried grass. There is a mini elevator for those staying on upper floors. The only problem we had was that the reception lady does not speak English. No major inconvenience occurred though. The hotel is also located just beside Jaures metro station. Therefore, getting around shouldn't be difficult. WIFI is chargeable, but you could get free WIFI from McDonald's which is located directly downstairs. For this price, I think its worth a try.

The other reviews are fairly accurate. It is definitely noisy. Cleanliness seems to be a dice roll, our room was fine, but we talked with an Italian who said his room was not at all clean. The best advice is to check in during the day time when Madame is available... she speaks no English, but she at least understands the process. The alternative is to check in during the evening when Monsieur is available, he speaks no English and does not understand the process.

Consequently it took us over an hour to check in during the evening hours.

And if you do not speak French, make sure bring your phrase book.

Contacted hotel numerous times to cancel reservation. Ended up being charged for the first night as they apparently had received the cancellation. Reading previous reviews about this hotel it really seems to be rife with scams. Highly recommend avoiding this place.

Was realy affordable for a place in Paris so that was definitely worth it.

Was across from a metro station, which was really handy. If you can find the right exit (there is about 4 at Jaures) it faces the stop so is easy to find and convenient to use.

The location was still in the centre of Paris (the 19th arrondissement) so not a Banlieue but did seem to be a bit of a strange area. At night was very scary- a lot of gangs of homeless people, graffiti etc. However the Metro station being so close meant you didn't need to walk around at night there.

Room was basic but had everything we needed. Bed was very uncomfortable though. Shower was good and easy to use.

The woman at the reception desk was lovely but did not speak english. Reception open 24 hours which was good.

Basically a cheap and cheerful place in Paris, so worth it. Just a word of warning about the area would have been nice so we didn't feel as scared at night.
