“Great Hotel in a really central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2012

I ended up staying in this hotel by accident as my booking in another hotel had been cancelled by the agent.
The facilities in the hotel were good with a very nice room and bathroom - see the pictures-
The breakfast was very nice with freshly baked croissants great choice of cold meats and smoked salmon fresh milk would have been nice (very few Paris hotels have this usually serving UHT milk which is ok with tea or coffee but not much good for Muesli )
The official list price is high but if you book in advance it is good value for money.
More than anything else this hotel is in a great place fro restaurants and to travel south and west from Montparnasse station.
The reception desk is always manned and the service is excellent in both French and English

Avoid at all costs - whilst in the care of the hotel staff, our baggage was opened, turned out and our property destroyed.

I stayed in this hotel last week for two nights with my partner for her 30th birthday.

On the last day we checked out and left our bags with the hotel staff so we could spend our last day in Paris without carrying our luggage. Our bags were left in a room to which only staff were supposed to have access.

We returned to discover that our bags had been opened, their contents turned out and some of our property had been destroyed.

When we complained to the hotel we were told that there was nothing they could do as no manager was available to make any decisions. We had no time to, as the hotel suggested, report the matter to the police as we were due to leave. We are trying to contact the hotel and groupon to resolve the matter.

As this room was supposedly only accessible to staff I'm concerned that there's a serious lack of attention to security or that there are other deeper issues at this hotel. The apparent complete lack of management is also a major worry.

The room was small, dark and dirty.

Breakfast was very unpleasant with shards of bone in my sausage, cheap croissants, nasty coffee and a limited selection.

Dear customer,
I hereby wish to express my sincere apologies for the incident on the day of your departure. Please note that my receptionist immediately informed me about what happened and I arrived at the hotel to meet you, unfortunately you had just left the hotel a few minutes before. Also note that it was impossible to take an immediate decision since such incident first requires a thorough investigation and the viewing of the entire record of our cameras. Also, I was waiting for your message to know exactly if there was something stolen or not, and fortunately you confirmed to me by email that nothing was stolen: On the records, we do see the thief running away after looking at our cameras and bringing nothing in his arms.
In view of the incident and fortunately the absence of theft, we have already found a solution together and I am happy to know that you have accepted our proposal with pleasure.

Please note, since your departure, we are currently taking all possible measures to prevent such an incident from happening again.

I wish to express again my sincere apologies and hope to have given to you the answer you expected.

Best regards, and Happy New Year ! Sandrine Soyer, Manager

Fantastic hotel,
Fantastic staff,
Perfect location for the metro,
Loved it would come again in a heart beat.
The breakfast was delicious although we did have it included in our groupon, and 19 euros for breakfast does seem a bit much however the staff were attentive as ever and they really are what made the whole stay as pleasurable as it was!

This was my second staying at the Hotel Le M (was called Abba Hotel until some months ago). I go frequently to Paris and have stayed in quite a lot of hotels. This is the one I always choose now: reasonably good 4***, no luxury but comfortable, modern and clean. And not expensive (for Paris): between €150-200 per night, not bad from what I’ve tried elsewhere.
The location is great: very close to Montparnasse train/RER/metro station, in the surroundings there are plenty of excellent, trendy restaurants. In their web site they say “The Rue de la Gaité was famous a century ago for its cafés, open-air dances, concerts and theatres, and has kept much of its charm, with several entertainment venues, restaurants and two metro stations nearby.” and this is really it.

We wanted a good value hotel that was close to Montparnasse station and this hotel didn't disappoint. My room was large for Paris city centre and was clean, modern and had a good bathroom. Decor in the hotel is a bit of an acquired taste (reminded me of 1980s science fiction films that imagined what the future would look like - plenty of angular, bright plastic shapes and lots of shiny surfaces!) but at least it was different.

Needing a place to stay in Paris en route from Barcelona to the UK by rail we booked this gem of a hotel. It has recently left the Abba Group of hotels but our recommendation came from the Abba Hotel in Barcelona.

The hotel is situated in Montparnasse and is very close to both Metro and other rail links. It is surrounded by dozens of eating places from the most humble take away through traditional bistros and brasseries through to top end dining. Japanese restaurants proliferate in every direction - sushi appears to be tres chic these days.

The hotel is very modern and the staff helpful and knowledgeable about local attractions, transport and eateries. Our bedroom was large and furnished in a slightly minimalist Japanese type of style. One curious aspect was that the spacious bathroom had one glass wall facing the rest of the bedroom. Fortunately (after an initial panic!) we found that there was a blind that could be let down!

Sleep quality was excellent with no street noise.

Cost was about £150.

Top tip - breakfast is a little pricey but there is an alternative of a 'bar breakfast' at half the price and quite adequate or a number of eateries providing traditional French breakfasts within a few steps of the hotel.
