“Good location, good value”

The ensuite double room was good value, quite spacious room with table and chair in the room and large windows. My only complain would be that there was no shower and soap holder which wouldn't cost much to install. The hotel is located right by the Simplon metro stop, so very handy to come back to the hotel for a quick rest before going out again for the evening. A little noisy in the evening as there is a pub opened until late in front of the hotel, but didn't stop me having a very good night sleep! Little warning, hotel reception is open until 11pm at night so make sure you check-in before that time. We arrived with the Eurostar from London and just made it in time!

I was really put off before going when I read the reviews of people who had stayed here, and actually it isn't so bad.
Yes, the whole place is tired and basic, but the beds are comfortable with clean sheets and clean towels were provided. I did have a problem initally opening my room door, as the lock was very stiff, but once I had mastered this there was no problem. I stayed in a room with no bathroom. For me, this was ok, but I thinmk I was fortunate that the bathroom's weren't in use when I got up! I was on the 6th floor, with the nearest one on the 2nd. In hindsight, I would have prefered an en suite, but the bathroom was clean and spacious.
In terms of location, this is really a great spot for Montmatre (in walking distance) as well as being on the Metro stop for Madeleine and also the Gare du Nord. The metro stop Simplon made me a little uncomfortable as it is a quite grotty area, but the other side of the Square the hotel is on, is really very nice, with a better metro.
In all, this hotel was fine for a short stay. I would stay here again, but would ensure it was en suite! As long as you are not expecting the Ritz, it does the job quite nicely

Room Tip: Get an en suite!

My partner and I went to Paris for a romantic weekend a month ago. We stayed at the Hotel des Olympiades, which I found on the internet, because it was really cheap: a double room with en-suite toilet+bathroom and breakfast costs €56: it is hard to find something cheaper in Paris!

The hotel is located in the North of the city near Montmartre, just a 15-minutes walking and you are in front of the Sacre Coeur. In addition, there is a metro stop (Simplon) just opposite the hotel, so it is really easy to reach all the most famous tourist attractions. Rooms are simple and decently clean, but the biggest problem is that they are terribly cold. There is only an electric heater which does its best, but it's not enough as the ceiling is quite high...while the radiators are always off. Luckily we found plenty of plaids in the wardrobe and we managed to keep warm during the night, but we really cannot take a proper shower...At the ground floor there is a sort of pub, and it was a bit noisy on Saturday night. Breakfast was rich and tasty, and it was served directly in the bedroom. The owner was very kind with me, but be warned: he only speaks French!

To conclude, I'd suggest Hotel des Olmpyades to young people without particular demands of comfort and sophistication and who are looking for a cheap solution. As I said to my partner in order to minimize the cold of our room: "It's a bit bohemien!". So, better to go in summer or in spring, when there is no need for heating.

If you want a cheap(ish) place just to rest your head in central Paris, this will do. Don't expect any luxuries/modern deco and the wifi doesn't work outside the main reception! Brilliant location! :)

I don't know, call me a hopeless romantic but even though this room was a little dingy, and there weren't any bells or whistles (or toilet, actually), there was also a kind of charm to it. Old fashioned door knobs and views of window-ledge flower-boxes. It felt like I should be an artist trying to make my way.

Other than that, we had a perfectly adequate & unremarkable time here. The toilet was on the floor below but we had a shower. It's not fancy at all, but it's a bed for a decent price in a convenient location near Sacre Coer.

It looked like it was a bit of an ethnic quarter, which I enjoyed seeing.

Nearby is the bakery voted 'best baguette in Paris 2012' and it truly was delicious! http://www.bbc.com/travel/blog/20120522-the-best-baguette-in-paris

This hotel ist perfectly located next to a metro station in the center of Paris and the service was very nice and helpful. Of course this is not a five-star-appearance, but in relation to the prize a very good choice I can recomend to everyone who wants a cheap stay in a central position and friendly service.
