This little hotel is a gem.
If you're looking for a big, modern,
busy place this is not for you.
But if you want something that is like a throwback in time to another
era when big didn't necessarily mean better, this is the place for you.
The rooms are small and the WC and shower is down the hall and perhaps a floor below, but that is a small inconvenience. The location is fantastic, in Montparnasse- walking distance to anywhere you want to be. Don't forget to walk through the historic famous Montparnasse Cemetery- right next door- where you will find poets, philosophers, artists and writers buried.
The staff is friendly and courteous.
The courtyard in the back, in warmer months, very tranquil.

I needed a hotel for 2 nights in Paris near Montparnasse. This came up on Laterooms and i thought i would give it a go. It is only a small hotel but the rooms are lovely and clean and perfect for a weekend stay. The rooms are small but has everything you need. I was concerned that it would be a bit far out for walking into Paris centre but it really isn't far and there is a metro stop just around the corner. I would recommend this hotel. The garden courtyard is a lovely calm oasis for a quiet drink.

Stayed here for two nights en route to NY. It's a clean and comfortable hotel. Obviously had just been refurbished. We had three rooms all very white but with coordinated colours in each. Beds were a bit hard but we slept well with window open as we were at the back overlooking a courtyard. Bathroom was very clean and white with a walkin shower. We were interested to see that jean Paul Satre used to meet his friends here. It's on a quiet street two minutes from a metro stop and about 10 minutes from Montparnasse station. Lots of restaurants nearby and don't miss a trip up the Tour Montparnasse for an excellent view of Paris, also Montparnasse cemetery and the catacombs are just around the corner.

This hotel is a good choice when you need to spend few nights in Paris and don't have very high budget for it. Location is fine, metro station in nearby, the street is calm and safe. Staff is really nice and helpful, they communicate in English with no problems. Despite it is one-star hotel, there were towels and another equipment you may need and room as well as bathroom was really clean.
Big bonus is its location - it is area of good restaurants, there are many various styles so you can choose from cuisine of the whole world.
I can definitely recommend this hotel.

I have been going to the Mistral for years now, for short weekends, when in France. Le Mistral is 2 blocks away from the Roissy shuttle bus stop and 4 blocks away from the metro, very conveniently located thus, and with plenty of restaurants and theaters in the little streets around. The neighborhood is very safe, well lit at night. For those interested in French literature, this is the place where Jean Paul Sartre and Simonne de Beauvoir used to meet. A very interesting cemetery is also just a block away, with lots of famous people there and great sculptures and artwork on their spots. The staff is really very nice and helpful. The breakfast is not very expensive and is very copious, fresh and tasty. Room prices are very cheap for Paris. The rooms are not fancy, so don't expect the Hilton, but if a clean, good, and quiet spot at a good/cheap price is what you are looking for then you will not be disappointed. Also, there's no air conditioning in most French hotels, and this goes for the Mistral. Another thing is the Montparnasse tower is right next door, which means lots of nice shopping, and also the Montparnasse train station is also right there, making it convenient to travel to other parts of the country.

Room Tip: There are rooms that have bathooms and showers, others without these. The price is a bit higher with...

Located just around the Montparnasse cemetery corner, the hotel is currently under fully refurbishing. The problem is that they continue to offer rooms nothwistanding the fact that noise, dust and a sort of chemical smell are present in every part of the hotel...
The ownership told me that by the end of 2012/early 2013 they will finish the works and that the hotel will be fitted with a lift (today there is not) and other amenities; but unfortunately I used to to stay there at the beginning of October 2012...and the room was very "sad" and uncomfortable.
Based on the above my rate is definitely poor.
