The hotel is nearing the completion of its refurbishment which has been done beautifully. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful in changing our room away from the front of the building so that as an asthmatic I could be sure to avoid any of the building dust. Good healthy options were plentiful for breakfast. The person in the room directly above mine took to clip clopping back and forth across her wooden floor at 3am. Reception were sorry I didn't phone them to get it stopped (so am I!). How about a notice, Tilsit, asking guests to remove their shoes (or walk on the hands).

Unlike many refurbishments which leave a hotel rather bland and characterless, this lovely old building has been beautifully restored. It is both comfortable, with all mod cons, and yet distinctly French. We did suggest to the management that perhaps rugs or a polite notice might help the noise of inconsiderate people walking with heels on the wooden floors! Lovely breakfast- fresh fruit salad, cheeses, ham, pastries, yoghurts etc for 13 Euros. It's within 5 minutes or less from the tube (and the Arc de Triomphe) and with lots of local restaurants. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and spoke good English.

Room Tip: 6th floor is the top floor so you wouldn't get any people walking above you! Hotel is on a little street with not much traffic so rooms on road are fine as are those on interior courtyard

I found a good deal for a weekend stay in this little hotel. I needed to be in the area Arc de Triomphe so my research was confined to the streets nearby. My room was small but nicely decorated with a bit more 'sweetness' than a normal hotel room. A good bath with a tub! Fine breakfast with good coffee and fresh pastries, along with all of the normal foods. Convenient for the metro and airport buses.

I would really say this hotel exceeded all my expectations. As a regular business traveler to Paris, I have become used to over-priced hotels that offer very little and and expect a lot. In other cities, many Paris hotels simply would not be operating. Happily, however, the Hotel Tilsitt Etoile is the exception in the best way possible.

- Firstly, it's in a brilliant location. Just a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe and in an area with restaurants and sights to suite any taste and budget.
- Secondly, it's clean. This is something I find lacking in many other Parisian hotels.
- Thirdly, the rooms are relatively large (this is Paris) and comfortable. They've ensured the fittings are all high quality (no problems with shower pressure here).
- Fourth, the service is friendly and fast. Check in and check out were a breeze.
- Lastly, the room service offering is great. Not price gougingly expensive, very good quality and a large selection of items you actually would like to eat. You'll even find the mini-bar offers supermarket prices.

The bottom line: the hotel is great value for money. It has done a better job of ensuring all small (and big) details are done better than the rest, including many major brands and hotels rated 4 or 5 stars in the same area. And they've priced themselves spot-on.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground floor are spacious, though I can see the potential for noise.

We went to Paris for my 50th birthday for 3 Days and can recommend this hotel as it is perfectly located and very clean and friendly we were lucky as we had a small terrace leading off the bedroom although the weather was too cold to use it (room 76) bathroom quite small with separate toilet however adequate. breakfast was good coffee was lovely. Free wifi which we found very helpful we would return to this hotel. they have their own restaurant a short distance away called Kambodgia which was superb definitely worth a visit and you are given a free first drink as residents. Also they organised our return taxi service to the Airport which worked out much cheaper so worth asking reception. Great hotel
