Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile
Ranked #1,134 of 1,809 Hotels in Paris
Reviewed September 10, 2013

We had stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June 2013. We had 2 rooms. This has been recently taken over by Hyatt (was earlier called Concorde). We had asked for adjoining rooms. We were given a room with an adjoining annex, where a sofa cum bed was converted to a very tiny bed. we had asked for 2 separate beds, since we have 2 teenage girls. "Sorry, we are full. Next day maybe possible". We said forget adjoining rooms. no go again. So, in a tired condition we managed the first night. It was not pleasant, and the room was very shabby. We were told the hotel is upgrading. It did not say so on the website, nor any special rate was given for staying in sub standard rooms. Incidentally, I was attending a conference organised by our group in the hotel itself, and we were more than a few staying there.we were shifted the next day as we did not relent. But the worst was yet to come. While checking out, we had a very shocking experience at the front desk with a young lady, whose name I withhold in a public platform. it was marginally short of being racist. This was witnessed by her immediate senior, who was herself shocked. We did not shout back, but instead wrote to the manager, Mr Manceaux, giving all details and demanding clear visible action. We had specifically said that our self respect was in question here. I got a very polite and nice letter stating that things were little off as management had just changed. I was told that 10000 points were being added to my gold passport and rest of usual "calming" talk. But no action was mentioned or seemingly taken. I now am aware how much our Indian self respect was valued at by Hyatt. 10000 points! Thank you Hyatt, but no thank you!!

Room Tip: lower floors have been renovated and are much better. the renovation is moving from down to up.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysee and very close to the Metro. The hotel lobby is beautiful but the hallways are showing lots of wear and tear and our room seemed to be in transition with large holes in one wall and the walls looking like they were being prepped to be painted. If we had been going to spend lots of time in our room I would have asked to be moved to a nicer room but we were gone almost all of the time and it hardly seemed worth the effort to pack and move. We were part of a tour so did not have much interaction with the staff, except for the concierge who was very police and helpful. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and there is a grocery store, bakery and other shops on the lobby level toward the back of the building. The grocery store was great with a large selection of just about everything including fresh fruit and vegetables. There is a Metro entrance just a short walk from the shops. If I were to stay there again I would definitely make sure any renovations to the room had been completed.

Was Concorde Lafayette, I had stayed there twice. New bathrooms, painting going on & more people on staff. They honor our Concorde privilege for a free BF. They upgraded us to a room facing the Eiffel. You could lay in bed & see it glimmer. Bus to CDG air

Let me check in early after flight from U.S. (just wanted to drop off bags). Smaller Europe style rooms, but walking distance to conference. Breakfast buffet on site - but skip it and eat out in town. Lots to see and very convenient to metro. Used metro to hotel and close by bus shuttle back to airport - both work, bus is more convenient but more expensive. Rates are dear - but it is Paris!

Stayed there for one night for work. The stay was fantastic, literally!

The rooms are small but with everything we need. The TV channels choice is huge which is not always the case.

The location is perfect, just between the Champs Elysées (15min walking time or 2 subway stations) and business center "La Défense". The Hyatt is located on the subway station which allowed us to move around Paris very easilly. Least but not last : the view! As the hotel is higher than all other buildings around you can enjoy a fantastic view over Paris and the Eiffel tower.

But the best part is the staff. Everybody we met was fantastic. From guest relations to the maids, from counter agents to servers at the Breakfast, everybody was just perfect. Their hospitality let us feel at home instantly.

Would go back anytime if the rates are not too high

I was stayed in this hotel for several time, and before the name is hotel Concorde Lafayette, and with last visit, I feel the services is improved with Hyatt management, from booking to check-out .

Location is really nice, to close the internal cycles of Paris, and have also the Airplane company shuttles bus station just near by . Also a lot of nice restaurants around , you have a lot of choice other than to stay in the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms to see Effeil Tower is much more expansive, and you could choose also the view for Montmartre...
