When you can get a room for under 200 euros per night as i usually do, it's a great value for a nice comfortable hotel, with "a 80s feel". If you join the points program you can get free breakfast too.

After staying here some two years ago a repeat visit was long over due as we both love Paris. We were kindly upgraded to a superior room, which was much appreciated. The breakfast was very good, plenty of fresh foods and drinks, although the coffee machines needed service quicker than the staff could get to them.

The staff were very helpful and generally the serice was excellent.

Room Tip: The more you pay the better the room. Book early! Ask for an upgrade as we did.

They are really quite shameless in charging 500 euro a night during conferences. the room on the "club" floor is filthy, with the kind of carpet that looks like it hasn't been cleaned for 20 years. yellow walls (yuk), ok toilet, functional but reminds me of a motel that costs 40 euros rather than a 500 euro place.

I have stayed here many times, but returned just after the take-over by Hyatt. Very little change in the hotel generally yet, but we took the Club Room offer, which includes access to the excellent lounge. Great inclusive breakfast, hot and cold drinks all day, and superb appetizers, champagne and a full range of drinks. Service is first class and friendly. There is also a gym on the 34th floor with a stunning view. The location is really good, with metro to Paris and La Defense a short covered walk, coach to the airport on the doorstep and a wide range of top class and reasonable restaurants and bars close by. Don't eat in the hotel, it is ok but not exciting, and the bar is the same, and expensive, although the top floor bar does have a great view. If you can, pay the extra for a club room, same rooms but access to the lounge is worthwhile if there are 2 of you.

It was called Concorde La fayette Hotel . Location is best . The hotel is near the metro station . The air france shuttle bus stop is just behind the hotel . You can take the bus from charls de guel airport to the hotel and from the hotel ,saves you money and space for your luggage . Champ elesse is a short walking distance .
Rooms and toilet are big enough and clean . Breakfast is good with variety of choices . Uncomfortable seating near the reception . Staff are nice and helpful .

Room Tip: Rooms in upper floors facing Effel Tower are best .

I stayed here recently for a few nights on business. The hotel had been booked and paid for through work, although the name of the hotel changed a couple of days before I arrived (from Hotel Concorde La Fayette to Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile) and we weren't notified about this. Not sure if it was the fault of our travel agents - quite possibly - or that of the hotel, but we were reassured about the name change by the hotel doorman when the taxi dropped us off.

Checking-in was fairly quick and easy and reception staff managed to accommodate myself and my work colleague with rooms near to each other, on the same floor.

Our stay was fairly uneventful. One complaint we did have was that you sometimes had to wait several minutes for the elevators to arrive - either to go up to your room, or from your room down to the ground floor. As we were staying on the 20th floor, taking the stairs wasn't really an option. Also some elevators only went to certain floors - e.g. the top floors - and so bear this in mind and take note of the design of the doors, as they say what floors they go to. Also on one occasion, we took the elevator to the bar near the top of the building, and when trying to use the elevator to go back down, our hotel keycards, used to activate the elevators, seemed not to work - they glowed red rather than green. So we would have been stuck there, had other people not joined us then and used their keycards, which worked fine. Incidentally we didn't stop for a drink at the bar, as we felt 13 Euros for a coke, or 25 Euros for a cocktail was daylight robbery. Yes, there's a nice view - but those prices are just ridiculous - so we just looked around and then left. You are literally paying almost double what the prices are in the hotel bar in the lobby, which we thought was just too high a premium.

Breakfast was really good - large variety of food (including hot potatoes, hot rice, fruit crumble along with the usual cooked offerings, continental options, fresh and tinned fruit, selection of breads and pastries) and also delicious fresh fruit juices. Unfortunately all the fresh/tinned fruit seemed to be served in tubs that had a syrup/juice with star anise floating in it, which gave an unpleasant aniseedy taste to the fruit. Such a shame. Also, there were no individual portions/jugs of milk for each table, so if you wanted milk on your tea/coffee you had to go and use the big jugs by the cereal or try and decant some into a glass, to then pour into your mug (and probably then drip it all over your table).

Our rooms were fine, nice and high up so a good view over Paris, although facing Sacre Coeur to the north/north-east rather than the Eiffel Tower/Arc de Triomph to the south/south-east. No problems at all with noise from the street or traffic noise, although the broken fan in my en-suite bathroom did make a continuous high-pitched whistling which was annoying and meant I had to shut the bathroom door at night in order to sleep. Also the water from the shower kept changing temperature slightly, and since you have to alter this using the slightly stiff mixer-tap lever, it was annoying to have to try and keep adjusting the temperature. Also be careful with the mini-bar - if you remove anything (even just to look!) it gets charged to your room automatically. TV channels were a bit limited, but I didn't have much free time to watch TV so wasn't a particular problem. Free wifi was a bit intermittent - it didn't work last thing at night, a couple of times, so I couldn't Skype home, rather frustrating. The free room safe was very welcome - about 14-15 inches long/wide and maybe 7-8 inches high - big enough to fit in my laptop and passport/valuables. I didn't feel especially unsafe whilst in Paris, until I felt someone pick-pocketing me at the Barbes Rochechouart metro stop - a really bad area for crime so be warned! lots of travel advice about this on the Internet, and apparently Line 1, which goes out from central Paris to the Porte Maillot metro stop near the hotel, can be quite bad at times - so please be careful and keep your wits about you. We didn't have any problems on Line 1 though.

One word of warning - we asked the concierge for a recommendation for where to go for an evening meal, and they directed us to Chez Clement across the road. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either - you may do better to try other places nearby (wish we'd tried Le Relais de Venise). We did have a meal in the hotel restaurant one evening, and it was actually quite nice albeit a little pricey - I had the chicken risotto and it was very good, except the chicken was a little dry. Drinks were a bit expensive - 8 Euros for a coke - but everywhere in Paris seems expensive for soft drinks (Chez Clement was around 5 Euros for a coke). The concierge was really helpful in selling us tickets for a boat trip on the Seine though - highly recommended to go when it's dark and you can get an impressive view of the Eiffel Tower and other sights, e.g. Notre Dame.

Checking out was quick and painless and they were happy to store my luggage until later in the day. There is a taxi rank directly outside, or you can take the Metro (a couple of minutes walk). Incidentally, our taxi ride from Gare du Nord to the hotel cost 27 Euros (in rush hour traffic) but only 13 Euros going back (not rush hour). Or the Metro is 1.70 Euro per person - much cheaper!

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up. Also apparently some rooms have been refurbished - I think we had one that...
